He took my hand and we walked toward the nursery. He put his finger up to his lips before we got to the crib.

“Oh my babies,” I whispered, looking down at them.

Except they weren’t in baby form any longer. In their places lay a cub and a pup. Side by side. Nuzzling each other. Both chubby and soft.

“That answers some questions,” Darsh said, pulling me against him. Tears flowed from my eyes. We had a tiger and a wolf. How freaking lucky were we?

“Thanks for waking me up. I can’t believe they are shifting this early. They just made four months.”

“I was an early shifter. About a year old. They are strong and powerful. Do you feel their energy?”

I could. We had a familial bond and I was surprised I didn’t feel them shift through it. “I do. Should we wake them and let them play?”

“If you want but I think they should sleep. Being a baby shifter and changing for the first time is exhausting. You probably need a big breakfast. They are going to be starving.

“You’re right.”

We went downstairs and ate together. Twin shifter babies took a lot of energy. I hadn’t gone back to work and didn’t see me doing so in the near future. Darsh made good money, and we were careful with our finances.

“I was thinking that maybe you’d want to visit the club soon. With me.”

Darsh and I hadn’t been since I gave birth. “A sitter?” I asked. Not that I opposed.

“The omegas of the owners have a network. We babysit each other’s kids. It works better and we all trust each other.”

“When?” I asked.

“Whenever you want. I miss our time together. I miss my omega. I need some time with you not planning or feeding babies or changing diapers no matter how much I love those things and I think you do too. If you don’t want to play, we could watch. Go out to dinner.”

I had been thinking the same thing.

“I would love to, alpha.”

“Good.” He seemed relieved. “That’s really good. I love you, Blaze.”

“I love you too.”
