Chapter 20

As happy as I was to get home to Blue, I was even happier to finally end Lorenzo. Insane for him to move around my fuckin’ city like what he did would go unchecked. I expected nothing less from niggas like him- spoiled and privileged his entire life, thinking rules didn’t apply to him, but he was about to learn.

“You just got home,” Navie whined, noticing me walking toward the couch, fully stressed.

“I need to hit the gym before I start looking like June.”

“You’ll be left for real.”

“Damn, you wouldn’t love me anymore, Blue?”

She nodded, with no hesitation, “You’re fine, and that compensates for your attitude. Without that, I might not like you as much.”

“Now if I put a weight clause in the pre-nup, I’d be a fucked-up nigga.”

She laughed. “Thinking I’d sign a pre-nup is where you went wrong.”

“You didn’t shoot down getting married. We’re making progress. I’ll be back.”

“Hmm, don’t rush,” she complained as I kissed her forehead.

Taking the elevator downstairs, I drove to the old boxing gym on Lennox. Ward was waiting in an old beater for us to make the drive to Madison.

“You sure?” Ward asked.

“Just drive so I can get back to my baby.”

He didn’t bother reminding me that I should’ve let somebody else handle it. I could’ve, but Lorenzo took so much from Blue. This was personal.

Ward drove to the shady hotel an hour outside the city. Lorenzo had plans tonight withCandy,to deliver on all the nasty texts she sent throughout the week. Shit, his wife wasn’t doing at home, only there was no Candy. Just my cousin Tynae toying with this nigga to set up the play.

We’d been sitting in that room for damn near an hour, waiting. The hum of the AC was the only thing keeping my nerves from spilling over. It was a different kind of heat running through me. Rage mostly, but patient enough to wait.

Lorenzo thought he was about to finesse another woman. When the door opened, his eyes widened when he saw me, but it wasn’t fear at first. It was arrogance. The same arrogance that made him think he could put his hands on Navie, then threaten her to keep her mouth shut.

“Name your price,” Lorenzo insisted.

“Money can’t get you out of this one. You wanted my attention. Now you got it bitch!”

I punched Lorenzo, sending him flying to the floor.

“W-wait!” Lorenzo yelled on the ground with his hands up. “I don’t know what Navie told you, but she came to me.”

“Oh yeah?” I struck him in the mouth, garnering a look of confusion.

“She has a history of lying. Why the fuck would I seek her out if I hit her? I’m married. That makes no sense.”

“I didn’t say shit about you hitting her.Youdid, pussy nigga!”

Lorenzo opened his mouth to lie again, but I punched him so hard his head bounced off the floor.

“Bitch ass nigga! Fight back or you only like hitting women!”

I pummeled his face to images of Navie jumping when I touched her in the slightest. She struggled to believe what I said, despite my actions matching. Most importantly, she apologized for my shit when I erupted because Lorenzo was a bitch.

I forced my fist into his jaw as many times as I could, then replaced it with my gun.

Staring down the barrel of a gun made nigga’s say shit they didn’t mean, like, “I-I’m sorry! Please, we can work this out. My wife is pregnant! Don’t do this! Please.”
