She glares at me. “Hardy har har.”

“Aww, come on. That was funny.”

We climb into the golf cart, zipping off to the first hole. Lennon takes the front, sitting next to our caddy, Danielle, and I sit behind her, enjoying how the air breezing over her skin and through her hair is washing me in that floral scent she showers with. When Lennon glances back at me, I give her a teasing smile.

“See something you like?”

She smirks. “It’s not charming when you’re fishing for compliments, you know.”

I scoff. “Who’s fishing?” Then I point to the golf bags in the back. “As far as I know, we’re golfing.”

Giggling, Lennon steps out of the now stationary cart and walks around to her bag, tugging out a 4-iron.

“Oooooh, trying to show me up, huh?” I say, eyeing her as she walks over to the tee and gets her ball situated.

I can’t help it when my eyes drop to that firm ass when she bends over, enjoying how her little skirt lifts slightly.

“You know, it would be really convincing that you actually want to beat me if you weren’t so focused on my backside.”

I connect eyes with Lennon but just smile and wiggle my eyebrows up and down. She turns back around and prepares her stance, swinging her hips from side to side.

“You know, it would be a lot more convincing that you don’t want me staring at your backside if you’d stop shaking it in my face.”

Lennon was starting to pull back to swing when I spoke, and now she puts the club on the ground, leaning on it for support as she breaks into giggles.

Her eyes are pooled with tears, and then she points her club at me. “Stop trying to distract me,” she says, returning to her spot and settling in again.

This time, I let her body twist back, gearing up for a hit. Her arms swing down and slice across the ball, sending it sailing off in the direction of the first hole. She stands immobile, and both of us watch it as far as we can until it almost becomes too difficult to see.

Only once I see the little white blur drop onto the grass and stop moving do I finally manage to speak.

“Holy shit.”

Lennon winks at me and then sashays back to Danielle, handing off her club and slowly taking off her glove, one finger at a time.

“Well, are you going to play or just stand there gawking?” she asks, finally propelling me into motion.

There are a lot of sexy things about Lennon Day apart from just her body, her sense of humor being one of them. Her willingness to go out and surf even though she jokes she’s not very good at it is another. Her confidence and heart are beautiful as well.

But seeing her hit that ball? Fuck.

I didn’t realize something like that could be hot.

I take my club from Danielle’s hand then turn to look back at Lennon. “Since when are you a golfing savant?”

“There are a lot of things you don’t know about me, Luke,” she says with just a hint of a smile.

I bend over and set up my own ball then hold my club steady next to the tee. “I’m beginning to see that,” I say, glancing her way for just a second.

And then I look down again, my arms twisting back before slicing forward.

CHAPTER20

LENNON

“That was fun. I haven’t played golf since junior year. We should definitely do this again.”

The mock groan from Lucas has me grinning like an idiot.
