I nodded.

“Yeah, I’ve had two. One in college and one about five or so years ago. I prefer two ladies.”

Interesting. “Tell me about them.” I wasn’t the type to ask about his bedroom escapades. This was probably the one and only time we spoke in detail about this kind of thing. I was married in college and had kids. Adam wasn’t and didn’t. I knew he got around.

“In college, it was a party that I went to with the swim team, and the other one was when I was asked to be the third by a couple in a night club.”

He filled me in on the details about too much drinking with his team at a victory party and then about dancing with a woman whose boyfriend was watching from across the room. They asked if he’d be willing to join them for a party at their place.

We headed toward the locker room. Our workout was clearly over as we dove headfirst into the land of threesomes.

The way he described his reaction to the couple from the bar asking him to join them made it seem as if it was just another night for him. “I didn’t have anything else going on that night, so I figured, why not?”

The seed was growing. I wasn’t sure how Adam would react, but I was sure that I wouldn’t take offense to his answer either way. We stopped at the lockers, and I glanced over to him. “And if I were to ask you if you were interested in being our third person, would you feel the same?”

His entire body froze. His brows shot into his hairline. His mouth fell open a bit. It was as if he had been pushed out onto a stage to perform a solo but didn’t know the song. “I’m . . . I’m not sure I follow exactly. Feel the same about what?”

I couldn’t believe I was asking one of my longtime buddies if he’d be interested in sleeping with my wife and me, but at the same time . . . it made sense. “As in would you say, ‘why not.’ I mean this is something big for us, and I was struggling to figure out how I’d find someone who I could trust implicitly. I doubt that will be possible with some man I just met. But with you, I know you respect Natalie. I know you respect me. You aren’t going to do anything to hurt her. It might be a bit awkward seeing your junk, but I’m sure I’d get over it.”

“You’re serious?” He sat on the bench and ran a hand through his hair. “You’re really asking me if I want to be a part of this experience you’re putting together for Nat? Would she even like that idea?”

It was a good question. “I’d have to find out whether or not she wants to know the other person. We haven’t discussed all the details. There’s still a lot to work out. I’m not asking you to come home with us right now, I’m just asking if you’d be willing to fill the role if I asked. No hard feelings either way.”

He stood and gave me a curt nod. “If you trust me enough to be with your wife, and she’s comfortable with that, I’d be honored. It’s kind of weird because as beautiful as Nat is, she kind of feels like my little sister.” He let out a gruff chuckle. “I’ll have to get over that.”

Adam seemed a bit over the top, as if I was giving him some kind of award, but it was cool. This was why having Adam would be perfect.

I just had to find out if Natalie would be willing to know the third party?

Chapter Seventeen

Natalie

My palms were wet witha mixture of sweat and condensation from my drink. I’d crossed and uncrossed my legs about twenty times since I sat, as if the more I fidgeted, the faster time would pass. I knew this was coming, Matteo told me he made the arrangements, but that didn’t suppress the anticipation. We were having a threesome. Tonight. My heart pounded in my chest just thinking about it.

“Excuse me, Miss?” A tap on the shoulder had me turning to find a handsome gentleman looking down at me. “My friend and I haven’t been able the take our eyes off you all evening.”

Channeling my energy, I smiled. “Then you and your friend have impeccable taste.”

“Nothing is more intoxicating than a confident woman.” He tipped his square jaw at my almost empty martini glass. “May I buy you another?”

My gaze shifted, looking for his friend, but there were a few men standing in the lounge and most of them had their backs to me. I reverted my attention back to him and asked, “Won’t your friend get lonely?”

He shook his head. A hint of lust flared in his eyes, and a dirty promise snaked through his smirk. “He knows when it’s worth the wait. Plus, he doesn’t mind anonymity.”

I hummed my interest as Jumanji-sized butterflies rose in my belly. “A man of mystery.”

The bartender slipped back down the bar, and the man was quick to order me another round.

“Matteo.” He stuck out his hand and introduced himself.

I took his hand and smiled. “Natalie.”

In true Matteo fashion, we had discussed and planned for this night over the course of a week. Did I want a stranger, or did I want someone we knew? Was there a man in particular I wanted? Was there a certain way I wanted the night to go? We discussed rules and boundaries endlessly until Matteo knew everything I wanted and didn’t want. We had talked about it a few times before, but this last week, it was clear Matteo was putting things into motion.

We decided that Matteo could be the one to decide on the guy, but I asked that it be someone we both knew and trusted. I had the option to know who it was before, but if I was going to do this, I was going to do it all the way.

So, I had suggested the blindfold.
