“What?” I ask again.
“He issohot, Devin.” Her bulging eyes tell me she isn’t lying about whoever she’s looking at.
“Who?”
“The dude you’re replacing.”
“You googled the company?” I hiss.
She nods without hesitation. “No, you didn’t tell me the name. I googled Sebastian and CEO. The real question is why didn’t you? You know the name of the company.”
“I have no need to google him. I’d like to form my own opinions before I see a bunch of lies about him online.”
Pushing away her plate, Brielle leans forward and turns her phone toward me.
“Brielle,” I warn. “I don’t want to see hi—”
“So, you don’t want to know that he has the most gorgeous blue—"
I cut her off immediately by covering my ears and acting like a child. “La, la, la. I can’t hear you,” I chant, but continue to watch her lips move.
She shoves her phone at me, but I slam my eyes shut, throwing the ultimate temper tantrum. “No,” I squeal. “I can’t. I won’t. I’m a grown woman who will not gawk at her coworker—especially one who is probably not going to love me taking over.”
I hear her laughing even with my hands over my ears. Peeking one eye open, I look, praying to God she took the phone away. Seeing she has it turned back toward herself again, I remove my hands from my ears and blow out a long, exaggerated breath.
“Is he really that hot?” I ask cringing. I just can’t help myself. This way I can at least prepare ahead of time, right? “On a scale from Chris Hemsworth to Ian Somerhalder?”
“Oh, he’s hotter than that. He’s a Henry Cavill all the way.”
“Dammit.”You have to be kidding.
Brielle looks at me, grinning. “Girl, hot isn’t even the word. He’s so fuckable it isn’t even funny.”
Great. Now on the first day, I’ll think of the guy who’s position I’m taking asfuckable.
I scrub my hands over my face, mentally cursing. “How the hell am I supposed to make my own opinion of him now that I know he’s fuckable? When I look at him, I’m going to think about fucking him!”
A laugh rips through Brielle as tears leak from the corners of her eyes.
“What’s so funny?” I’m getting annoyed.
“The entire situation is comical.”
“No, it’s not,” I deadpan.
“It’s hysterical. Think of it this way, you’re taking his job and you’ll be wanting him to take you. What could possibly go wrong?”
I stare at her, my gaze almost lethal. “Knock it off Brielle. I’m not going to sleep with him. He could have a girlfriend or something you know.”
“Not with these photos he doesn’t.” She laughs. “You should just look him up already.”
“No. I can’t see him before we start working together. It will make it worse. If he’s that hot, then I’ll just spend the week fantasizing about him in ways I shouldn’t because I won’t see him as a coworker yet.”
“I don’t think it matters.” She sits back into her side of the booth. “I’m telling you, Dev, once you see this man, I don’t think it will matter that you’re his new CEO. You’ll be picturing last night all over again, just with his face instead.”
I groan. Fuck me!
