She’s still being resistant to my advances, but I know if I just get her to remember, even in the smallest form, how good I made her feel, how hard I made her come, her wants and desires will take over her will to deny herself.

When we enter the conference room Devin is already seated near the head of the table. Perfect. I take the seat next to her and greet her. “Good morning, Ms. Miller.”

“Mr. Brooks,” she simply nods not giving me an inch.

Shifting my chair a tad bit closer, I ask, “How was your weekend?”

A thoughtful look plays on her face as if she’s remembering something nice in her head. She smiles and her voice is cheery as she answers. “It was very nice, thank you.”

“Settling into the city all right?”

That gets me a laugh. “I am from this area, you know?”

“I do, but I also know you’ve been gone a long time.”

Damn, this small talk shit is harder than I thought. I feel like an idiot. I’d prefer to be talking about how I want to make her come over and over, starting on this table, but with a room full of people that wouldn’t go over well for either of us.

Her phone lights up with a text drawing my eyes down to it.

Brian:How’s dinner at Francisco’s Friday at 7 for our date?

I have no right to feel this anger in my chest. None at all. This woman isn’t mine. But damn, I want her to be, one more time. Here she is going out with other guys while I can’t get the picture of her naked out of my mind. I’m pretty sure it’s my ego that has me opening my mouth.

“Brian sounds boring.”

She whips her head toward me and narrows her eyes in disapproval, yet again. “You don’t even know him or anything about him, how could you make that judgement?”

“He wants to go out to an Italian place before sundown? It’s a generic date without any thought.”

She crosses her arms over her chest and defends him. “I happen to love Italian food and there’s nothing wrong with a seven o’clock date.”

“I love Italian too, but there’s no thought in this date. He clearly has no intention of the date lasting the entire night if he’s starting that early. See, if you want to make sure you keep your date happy and entertained for the night, you start around eight-thirty, maybe nine. Take her to a fancy restaurant somewhere new so you can watch her try new things with you. You would ply her with wine, help her get relaxed and comfortable,” I pause, lean in and lower my voice. “After getting to know each other for a few hours, I’d take her back to my penthouse and show her the time of her life.”

Devin gulps and her nipples pebble under the thin silk of her blouse. While I’ve succeeded in arousing her with my voice and my words, I’ve also made my cock hard as steel.

“But none of that will be happening with Brian’s non-existent creativity or desire to get laid. Or, even if he did manage to get you in bed, it won’t hold a candle to the night you and I spent together.”

Red blossoms in her cheeks and her jaw tightens. “You’re a real asshole, you know that Sebastian?”

Her voice is low and laced with disgust. For whatever fucked up reason, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I smirk. “So you’ve told me.”

I affect her. No matter how she wants to avoid me or deny her feelings toward me. I make her feel... something. It’s just a matter of time before she lets go and this chemistry between us ignites and burns like the fiery passion it is.

“Screw you, Sebastian,” she grits as she shifts her chair away.

“I’d love to, princess,” I whisper as the meeting comes to order. “You just tell me when and where.”

Devin

“How was your date?” Brielleasks as I walk through the front door. “It’s kind of early. Did it not go well?”

My date with Brian was nice. But that’s it, nice. “It was good, I guess.”

“You guess?”

Kicking off my heels, I drop my bag and take off my coat. “It felt more like a catch-up dinner with a cousin or old friend from high school. There wasn’t anything wrong with it but there wasn’t anything great about it either.”

Her face softens as I join her on the couch and tuck my feet under my butt. “I’m sorry.”
