Me too.
I help her down from the ledge, holding her waist until her heels hit the ground. She doesn’t let go of me right away.
We both glance at David. Still out. Still breathing, unfortunately.
“Do I look like I just got railed next to a sociopath?” she asks with a glint in her eyes.
“You look like you survived him.”
She lifts her eyes to mine. “That’s not the same thing.”
“No,” I say, brushing her cheek with my knuckles. “It’sbetter.”
She leans into my hand. “This isn’t over, is it?”
“No.” I glance at David. “But it’sdifferentnow. Because this time, he didn’t win.”
Her gaze is steady. “Because you stopped him.”
I shake my head. “Becauseyoudid.”
“I didn’t. I yelled at him.” She lifts a shoulder in a half shrug. “But I didn’t know how to stop him.”
“Maybe we should work on that. I can show you a few defensive moves, if you like.”
She nods, once. Resolute. Then she looks down at herself, sighs, and tugs at the front of her dress. “God, I have to walk back through that party.”
“You want to stay here until everyone clears out?”
She gives me a tired smile. “No. I want them to see me walk back in like I’m fireproof.”
“Youarefireproof.”
“I’m not,” she says. “But I’m not flammable either.”

WESLEY
I’m notsure how it played out, but Sean and Bailey are standing. David is not.
His crumpled body is on the rooftop tile, unconscious and still breathing, which is honestly more than he deserves. Sean’s standing beside Bailey, who’s flushed, eyes glassy, dress wrinkled in a way that says she’s either been through hell—or something much better.
And judging by the pink across her chest and the way her thighs are still pressed together? Yeah. Something much better.
Huck lets out a low breath behind me. “Told you.”
I don’t say anything. Because he did. His exact words were “If Sean finds her with David, they’re gonna fuck.” How he knew that, I don’t know.
I just meet Sean’s eyes, and he gives me the barest nod. We’re all on the same wavelength now.
Bailey looks up at us, lips still parted. Her mascara is smudged, and her mouth is kiss-bruised, but she’s standing tall, like a queen surveying the battlefield.
“Hey,” I say gently.
She swallows. “Hi.”
“You okay?”
