Goosebumps race up my arms.

This man. This terrifying, obsessive, impossible man. I trust him with my body, my secrets, maybe even my soul.

But he’s not chasing me anymore.

He’s hunting me.

And I think, God help me, I wasmadefor him.

And he was made for me.

I finally reach the heavy iron-banded door to his chamber. It’s closed but unlocked. I press my hand to the gritty steel and push it open with a creak.

Now that I’m on the other side, I stop cold.

Connor isalready here.

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

Raina

“Oh fuck,” I sputter before any other words pop into my head.

Connor stands in front of one of the worktables that is covered in black velvet with leather restraints at the end of sparkling chains. Candlelight flickers, throwing shadows against the tiled walls and dancing over his shirtless body.

Taut muscles make up every inch of him. Coiled restraint radiates off him. His expressionless eyes watch me. There’s no emotion. No softness. Just hunger.

He moves toward me, slow and deliberate. He’s a dark storm cloud approaching. He’s the wolf who’s already cornered the rabbit.

“I was supposed to get here first and hide,” I whisper, edging back.

He stalks me with his head tilted slightly. “You’re smart, Raina. Fast. Tactical. But you’re not me.”

There’s no more room to back away. My spine hits the cool wall, crying with condensation.

Connor stops inches from me. His fingertips close around my throat to the hollow between my collarbone. He then drags them lower until they hook into the waistband of my leggings.

“I gave you a head start,” he says, deep and lethal. “I will not give you any mercy.”

“Mercy?” I say, my heart kicking my ribs.

“From what I have planned for you. The deepest penetration of my cock in every hole, all to prove who you belong to.”

“Holy shit.” I slip out from under his arm, but screech, seeing Blade smile from the other side of the passageway door.

“Lock it, Blade,” Connor barks. “And I don’t care what you hear in here, you do not enter.”

“Yes, boss.” The door slams shut, and a lock clicks on the top of the frame.

The sound jerks my chin back in Connor’s direction, and blood drains from my face.

“What... What was that?”

“Oh, you didn’t see that deadbolt in the top corner, did you?”

“No.”

“Thought you had me all figured out.” His shoulders set back.
