It felt wrong to drive off in Emma and Callum’s wedding car without Callum. I’d decorated the car earlier with window paint and tied cans to the back of it.

“Where are we going?” Grudge asked.

“The hospital.”

“Did someone get hurt?”

Yeah, probably by your hands, Grudge! Did he seriously not remember anything that had just happened back there? I unceremoniously shoved him into the back seat and slammed the door closed.

“Are the wedding guests going to be okay?” Emma asked. “They seem...off.”

“I’m sure they’ll be fine.”I hope.“Let’s get to the hospital.” I pulled the sides of my torn dress together and climbed into the car.

Emma got into the driver’s seat and started the ignition.

My four boyfriends that were still in the town square were going to be okay. The quick werecat healing was a real thing. I knew it because I was pretty sure I’d hit one of them with my car ten years ago, and no one had even bothered to mention it.

Titan though? He’d lost his werecat healing abilities. He needed me.

The cans clanged behind us as Emma put her foot down hard on the gas.

Chapter 32

Saturday

Zoey

I couldn’t stop pacing the floor in the hospital waiting room. We’d been here for over an hour and I hadn’t heard a single thing. About Titan. About anything going on back in town.

Titan still being in surgery was a good thing. It meant he was fighting.

But I wasn’t sure the radio silence from town was a positive.

“Would you please sit down?” Emma asked. “You’re making me nervous.”

I sighed and plopped down on the hard chair next to her. “You checking your phone every two seconds is makingmenervous.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” She shoved her phone into Callum’s jacket that was draped around her shoulders. “Do you maybe want to go clean up a bit?” She’d been to the bathroom to get the blood off of her. But I couldn’t make myself leave the waiting room. What if I missed important news?

I shook my head.

“Then maybe we should focus on fixing him?” She pointed to Grudge who was currently staring at one of the empty walls.

What the heck?“Grudge? Stop staring at the wall and come sit down.”

He turned to face me. “Oh, Zoey. Hey. What are you doing here?” And then he looked confused as he looked around. “Wait, where are we again?”

Eek.He was having some serious memory problems. I patted the seat beside mine.

He came over and sat down.

“Grudge, what do you remember about today?” I asked.

He thought about it for a moment. “I was driving to come to Emma’s wedding. Am I in Crooked Point yet?”

Yikes. He didn’t rememberanythingabout being here? I turned to Emma.

She shrugged.
