Chapter 23
Tuesday
Zoey
“This is complete bullshit.” I started pacing back and forth.
Emma shrugged. “I think it’s actually nice that they’re finally bonding over something.”
“But we’re the ones that figured out that Kebe is a liar. We should be part of the conversation of what to do with her.”
“Yeah.”
We both stared over at the vault that my boyfriends and Callum had locked themselves into to “discuss” the imminent threat of Kebe. Vault number two. The one with all the stolen relics.
“What do you think they’re discussing exactly?” Emma asked.
I folded my arms across my chest. “Probably how to torture another supernatural creature successfully. It’ll be hard since she can disappear.”
“Do you think they have an artifact in that vault that will help with that?”
“No idea. But remember when Kebe was in there? And she kept talking about the auras of all the items being gray? That’s pretty bad energy. I think the guys have some seriously evil stuff in there.”
“Hopefully something more evil than she is.”
I nodded. “Seriously, what is her game here? Because there’s no way she’s just here for a cure. What do you think that Anubis coin actually does?”
“No idea. I want it to be a cure for Callum. But we can’t possibly trust her.”
“I know. I wish there was a way to talk to King about it. But Kebe may have compromised him at this point anyway. They’ve been having private sessions.”
“You sound jealous.”
I laughed. “No. I’m just annoyed. I want all the answers and our boyfriends literally locked us out of the conversation.”
“Maybe they don’t want us to hear what horrible things they have planned for her.”
“Maybe. But I’m really bad at being told what to do.”
Emma smiled. “I know. Having one protective boyfriend is a lot. But five? Quite the handful.” She laughed at her own joke.
“Hilarious.”
“I know. I am kind of happy to not know what they’re going to do to her though. This way I don’t have to feel guilty about the plan.”
I stared at her. “So if they’re planning on murdering her, you won’t feel guilty at all?”
“I mean...”
“Emma. We’re not killers.”
“Our boyfriends are.”
Well, she had a point there.
“And Kebe is so horrible.”
I laughed. “I know. I wished she’d never stumbled upon Crooked Point. Or searched it out. Or whatevershe did.” She probably had sought it out. For the coin specifically.
