“I need you to come again.”

“Tag,” she moaned.

“Are you saying no?” I asked. “Are you telling me no?”

She shook her head.

“I want you to come,” I said, and she nodded, letting me use my fingers against her clit, finding the pressure with my thumb that made her shake. Oh, my God, she kept moaning over and over again. Her skin was red everywhere. Finally, she screamed into the pillow and pussy gripped me so hard I lost control. Three hard thrusts and I was filling her with my cum. My hands holding her hips so hard I was going to leave bruises.

Leaving the slick heat of her body gutted me, but I had used us both hard. She hissed when I pulled out and collapsed against the bed. I got up to get a warm washcloth from the bathroom. My legs weren’t steady beneath me and there were still stars in my eyes.

When I came back she’d pulled the blindfold off and was sitting on the side of the bed. Mascara in streaks down her face. Her hair a mess.

She was gorgeous.

“Tag?” her brown eyes were a punch in the gut.

“Yeah.”

“Can I?”

“Can you what, darlin?” Not following her train of thought. I sat next to her on the bed and eased the washcloth between her legs.

“When I come back to visit. Can I come back to you?”

Right. She wanted to know if she came home, would I be up for a booty call, because what we had, this incrediblechemistry, was so damn good. And she knew she wouldn’t find this anywhere else.

I shook my head.

She sucked in a wounded breath. “You’re saying no?”

I nodded.

“Say it out loud,” she said, quietly. “If the answer is no, say no.”

I looked her right in the eyes so she wouldn’t get it twisted later.

“No,” I said. “When you go back to New York, we’re done.”

She nodded and stood up. Her legs so unsteady, she nearly fell, but when I reached for her she flinched from my hands. Gathering herself under her own strength.

“You knew this was how it was for us,” I said, and then stopped. Everything I was going to say made me sound like an asshole, but I also knew it had to be said.

“I did. I knew that,” she said. “Beyond me going back to New York, I knew you weren’t a commitment guy. What did Mac call you? Elusive. I guess I just thought…” she shook her head.

“You thought what?”

She shrugged into her shirt and hit me with that level, no bullshit gaze again. “If you wanted it to be different, it could be different.”

I was silent.

“Right,” she breathed, and pulled on her jeans, wincing as they came up over her sensitive skin. “Well, thanks, I guess. For the…yeah. Um, so Harmony said something earlier to me about the rodeo coming to town and Seth competing. We’re all going to go see him. I guess I’ll see you there?”

Yeah, that was a dream I had to let go. Taking Sunshine to her first rodeo.

It would have been fun.

But it was important I remain the asshole in this situation.
