“Harmony! Is that omega really your scent match?”
“Harmony! Come back and answer us!”
They are relentless.
I hoped that because I was one of hundreds of celebrities passing through that I might get some peace. But Vegas’ media population basically doubles in size for a Grand Prix.
If I'd moved from F2 up to F1 back when I had the offers, maybe they would have acted differently. Though they had already been interested in me when I was one of the few female omega drivers on the F2 circuit.
But now major F1 sponsors used me for their marketing for exactly that reason.
I keep running over the tiled floor, with the omega's scent still clinging to me. I'd rather smell his scent than deal with the memories of Maddock's deep leather and firewood that still haunt my dreams.
I’m used to people using their scents as an excuse to get closer to me. Though it is usually more with alphas than omegas. They say we are scent matches and we belong together forever, and that means I’d fall in love with them. Then they’d throw their scents at me to prove it, which never works. It is worse with alphas, because they can send me into a daze and make me more agreeable if I’m not careful. Exactly like what happened with Ross.
I shoot around the corner, not stopping for a second until I know I’m safe. Except the air is knocked out of me as I crash into a broad chest, and I’m instantly surrounded by the scent of cedar and honey.
All my omega senses spark up as my palms land on his pecs, and I nearly fall.
“Whoa there, sweetheart,” he says in a smooth Texan accent. He reaches out, gripping my forearms, pulling me closer to his warm body and his rich scent. “We wouldn’t want you toppling over there, would we?”
A shudder goes through me, and I have to bite back my purr as my perfume blooms again, and I bury myself in Jaxx Sands’ arms.
Jaxx
I had been seriously looking forward to going to bed.
There’s nothing I like more whenever I arrive in a new city than to get into one of those sweet, sweet hotel bathrobes, put on those slippers, fight with the devil-made bedsheets to untuck them from the mattress and dive in.
My goal is to get comfy and get some proper sleep to prepare for the practice sessions tomorrow.
Maddock has been in a mood since before he was born, and they lump us together all the time, for example, putting us right next to each other on the plane. They probably see it as a bonding experience rather than a test of sheer will. At least for Maddock.
But I needed a break from him, so I ran off to the restroom as soon as we got off the plane. Which was the best decision of my life.
Because now I'm wrapping my arms around the irresistible Harmony Grace and taking in her gorgeous scent as she rubs her cheek against my chest like a happy cat.
One hit of her fresh strawberries and cream nearly brings me to my knees. I’m basically drooling all over her as I look down at her with wide eyes.
She’s slotted herself against me perfectly, just the right height to press her ear over my heart and hear it storming if she wanted.
And it probably would be fine to keep holding her like this, if it wasn’t for the fact that she's literally Harmony Grace—and she's my scent match.
My alpha senses rev to max as heat bursts through me, and I suddenly need to taste her more than breathe.
Shock pounds in me, but my body knows the truth: I have to make her mine instantly.
Her head tilts back, and I’m swept away by the most stunning crystal green eyes I’ve ever seen. Ginger hair sets me on fire, along with the way her lips part as she pulls in a shuddering sigh.
It isn’t like some fanfare or a bomb going off or however they describe it nowadays.
It’s just this click, like this knowing, like she was always part of me and I need to be inside her to make sure it is really happening.
I haven’t even been holding her for a hot minute, but it’s just so right and natural.
I’m already bending down to kiss her as she flutters her pretty little lashes when a shout comes from behind her, “Harmony! Where are you?”
Her eyes widen, and she gasps as she jolts backward. Then it’s her turn to grab me. With a burst of strength I didn’t expect from someone so skinny, she drags me through the nearest door, and slams it behind us.
