“Is that what I think it is?”
I nod happily, turning the stone so that it flashes under my bedroom lights.
“It’s a diamond of the highest quality, Rosie, and I want you to have it. You’ve been my friend ever since I moved to St. George, and for a long while there, you were my only friend. I want you to have this so that you can relax a little because you deserve better in life, and it’s my way of saying thank you.”
My friend gasps, shaking her head.
“Oh no, I couldn’t accept such a gift.”
“Yes, you can,” I correct in a firm tone. “Let’s just say that I earned this diamond, and it’s mine to do with what I please. Now, I want you to have it. Okay, Rosie? You deserve it, and I think you deserve the relaxation that a menage will bring too. Your bones will turn to liquid and your muscles to mush because it feels amazing. I promise, you won’t regret the experience.”
I can see the conflict playing out in Rose’s eyes.
“I don’t know,” she hesitates. “That diamond is?—”
“Good, so it’s done!” I exclaim, ignoring her waffling. “I’ll even sell it for you if you want, and give you the proceeds. Now, when are you free to meet Scott, Cross, and Barrett? They’re eager to meet you, girlfriend.”
Rose begins shaking her head again, but then slowly, it turns into a nod.
“We could really use the financial help...”
“Then it’s settled,” I say with a smile. “See? That wasn’t so bad, was it? Take the diamond, and sell it to whoever buys and sells this stuff. Or I’ll find out for you where to pawn it, but the diamond’s GIA-graded and everything, so you’ll get an amazing price. Then, once your bills are paid, come and meet Scott, Cross, and Barrett,” I wheedle. “I promise, you’ve never seen three men so hot.”
Rosie bites her lip, her cheeks flushing.
“Well, there’s this one guy I kind of like …”
I wave my hand in the air.
“But you said yourself that he doesn’t even know that you exist! So why chase after the bird in the bush when you’ve literally got three in hand? Come on, Rosie, I know you can do it.”
My pretty friend still looks hesitate, but then nods tentatively.
“I’ll give it a try,” she murmurs. “There’s no harm in trying something once.”
“See?” I ask in a playful tone. “That wasn’t so bad was it? It’ll be fine, don’t worry.”
Rosie smiles tentatively over the phone screen.
“I hope so.”
“I know so,” I say in a firm tone. “Now, I hear my stepdad calling so I have to go, but talk later okay?”
Rosie brightens immediately, her eyes sparkling as her cheeks flush.
“Tell Lionel I say hi,” she burbles. “I mean, he doesn’t know who I am, so I guess it doesn’t matter,” she says in a bit of a shame-faced voice. I merely pooh-pooh her.
“Of course Lionel knows who you are, Rosie!” I say with a roll of my eyes. “Besides, he was in the room during the menage when I hyped you up to his three friends, so if he didn’t know you before, then he definitely does now.”
“He does?” Rosie breathes. “My goodness! Well, did he see the boudoir photos?”
I stop to think for a moment.
“I think he might have,” I nod. “I can’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure he did.”
“Oh my god!” Rosie squeals. “This is so embarrassing!”
“Nothing to be embarrassed about,” I say with a giggle. “It’s all good, Rose. Now, ciao ciao babe, talk soon!”
