A rip snaps against my hip, and we’re skin to skin. When he swirls his finger around my clit, I shudder and grip his shoulders.

“Fuck, Britta, you’re so ready,” he moans.

“Theo…” My whisper is his final straw. He slams open a drawer and retrieves a condom.

I scoff. “You keep condoms in your office?”

He has the audacity to laugh at my accusation, and I squirm to get off him. A swift sting to one of my butt cheeks makes me yelp, and he grips my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes.

“Bri, if you think I could have my fingers knuckle deep inside you, and not prep my office for your next visit, then you’re out of your beautiful goddamn mind.” He kisses me before ripping open the wrapper and rolling it down his length.

Satisfied with his explanation, I lift to sink around him and our gazes grow serious. His hands guide my hips down until we groan at him filling me. Theo closes his eyes reverently before he lays against the headrest.

I slip my hands under his open shirt to brace myself on his bare shoulders and capture his lips in mine before I start moving for us.

“Whoa, baby… I’m gonna come if you don’t let me be in charge of this ride.”

I ignore his warning and subsequent cursing as I slide up and down his shaft. Pressure builds low and I want to continue, but my speed falters, and the heavy sensation in my core combines with the burn in my thighs.

Theo grins. “My turn.” He slams into my center and sets a punishing cadence, making me gasp and tighten around him. His momentum rolls the chair to a halt between his desk and the wall, and I hang on to the chair back while he never misses a beat.

“I’m close, Theo.”

He keeps pace and strokes my clit with his thumb. I instantly combust, pulsing around his length as he prolongs my ecstasy. My inner walls grip and release around him until he pushes into me wildly, losing his rhythm. After two more deep thrusts, Theo moans and stills before pulling me close. I ache from within at the gesture, but his arms are soothing as they cradle me to him.

“Fuck, Bri… that was…”

“Intense.”

Our chests dance in tandem as we breathe in unison. Eventually, I lean back, smiling until I realize his face is blank, devoid of emotion.

“So… what’s next?” I venture, anxious about what he’ll say.

His sigh is confusing as he lifts me off him. He disposes of the condom and gets dressed. My legs tremble—although I can’t pinpoint why—as I partially clothe myself.

The air around us is charged with tension, and his exhale is a gust of wind before a lightning strike. “What do you mean, ‘what’s next?’”

“I guess…” I bite my lip, bracing myself for the bolt of rejection and against the inevitable heat of embarrassment. “Is this it? I mean the case is done—”

“Do you want this to be it?”

“No! God, no.” I slap my hand against my mouth at my admission. I didn’t mean to blurt it out, but it’s true. “I mean… The past week has been a whirlwind, but I like what we have—”

“I do, too.”

My eyebrow quirks up and I face him head-on, not caring my cheeks are warm from the mix of emotions scalding through me. His smile is cocked to the side, but sincere, and relief courses through my veins like cool water. “You do?” I ask.

He nods, his body tense with sincerity. “I want you, Bri.” He weaves his fingers into my hair and leans his forehead against mine. “I’ve worked so hard for a living, I’ve forgotten to live at all. Being with you, Britta… hell yeah, it’s a whirlwind. One that came around when I least expected it. But I’ve loved getting caught in our storm.” He gives me a light kiss and I fall into his words. “What we do matters…” With a wink, his small grin lifts at the corner. “But I’ve learned recently who we go home to matters the most. And Britta? I know this is soon… but I’d love to go home to you, for as long as you’ll let me in.”

My wide smile hurts my cheeks, and I wrap my arms around his neck. “Does that mean you want another weekend sex bender? Make some more mistakes?” I joke, trying to seem flippant about how much I want him to say yes.

“No.”

My heart falls until he catches it with another kiss.

“I want you in my bed for more than a weekend, or did you forget?”

“Forget what?”
