‘We’re so thrilled to have you here!’ another woman chimes in, already holding a silky dress towards me. ‘This is a must-try!’

‘Erm, okay,’ I say, a little taken aback by it all.

‘So, are you doing anything special later?’ Corin asks.

‘Just a date,’ I reply, taking a sip of the champagne.

‘A date, you say?’ she replies with a smile. ‘Well, we must dress you for the occasion. Do you want to charm, seduce, or destroy?’

I burst out laughing.

‘A bit of all three, if that’s an option,’ I suggest.

‘Darling, we’ve got just the dress for you,’ she declares confidently. ‘Here, take this into the fitting room, see what you think.’

I don’t dare not do as I’m told, even though the dress in question isn’t my usual style, material or colour.

But as I try on the long, white slinky dress in the luxurious changing room, I can’t help but smile. I never thought it would suit me, but, damn, it looks good. I twirl in front of the mirror excitedly.

‘Wow, you look incredible!’ Corin exclaims as I step out from behind the curtain to show them. ‘Now, we need to find you some killer shoes.’

A male employee, appearing from nowhere, takes this as his cue.

‘I’ve never known a man not propose if a woman walked on his back in these,’ he informs me as he shows me a bright red pair of ridiculously high heels.

‘I’m not planning on walking on anyone’s back,’ I say with a laugh. ‘But sure, why not? I’ll try them on.’

‘I’m sure you could have your pick of any man here in that dress,’ Corin says, obviously just kissing my arse. ‘I’ll bet you’re having to fight them off with a stick.’

I laugh politely until it hits me. Oh, no. No, no, no. Suddenly it all makes sense.

It did occur to me that, not only does there seem to be a high volume of single (or willing, at least) men at this resort, but that for some reason a disproportionate number of them seem to be interested in me. It’s not that I thought it wasbecause I was a hottie, I just assumed it was the sea air making everyone holiday-horny. No one is interested in me, not really. It’s because they think I’m G.G. Marsden. I guess good news travels fast, around the hotel, and with loads of business types, I’m not surprised other people are making the same mistake. I guess I’m lucky that my lot are distracted by the wedding, and uninterested in business news – I’m sure I would have heard by now, if any of them had heard the rumours.

Well, do you know what, that suits me just fine. If people are only interested in me because they think I’ve got money, then I have no problems being interested in them for their potential to be an impressive date to the wedding. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll give people the benefit of the doubt, but I’ll be keeping it in the back of my mind.

‘Oh, honey, you’re going to turn heads tonight!’ he says, handing me the shoes.

‘Here’s hoping,’ I reply.

Everyone bustling around, fetching shoes and accessories, dressing me up like a doll – it’s definitely something I could get used to. It’s nice having a team of people help me get ready. It’s a shame they’re only kissing my arse because they think I’m someone else.

Tonight is a perfect night for a date. The weather is spot on, now that the sun has gone down, leaving us with a temperature that is just right. The stars are twinkling above us, the atmosphere at the poolside bar is great, and the cocktails are delicious.

The only thing that isn’t perfect about this date is the date himself.

Olly and I are not getting on at all. As though it isn’t bad enough that he isn’t laughing at any of my jokes, we’re yet to find a single thing we have in common.

‘So, what sort of movies do you like?’ he asks as he swigs his beer. He sounds frustrated, obviously realising that this isn’t going all that well either.

‘I enjoy everything really,’ I tell him, trying to be agreeable and friendly. ‘Horror movies are definitely my favourite, though.’

Olly narrows his eyes.

‘Really?’ he says in disbelief.

‘Yep,’ I reply – what else can I say?
