She looked over at me, and I licked my bottom lip suggestively, my gaze roaming down her body before returning to her face.
“What kind of fun did you have in mind?” Her lips curved into a seductive smile, and that sparkle was back in her eyes.
There’s my sunshine girl. Ready to play.
I put my hand on her thigh and gave it a little squeeze. “You’re not afraid to get dirty, are you?”
Chapter Thirty-Four
Quinn
Oh my God.We were going to die.
I let out a yelp, my arms tightening around Jesse. We caught some air before the wheels hit the ground, and we whipped around a curve in the trail.
Mud splattered my jeans and T-shirt. I ducked behind Jesse, using his back as a shield when he veered right so he could ride straight through a puddle. There was no help for me now. It was raining mud, and I was covered in it, laughing so hard as we flew down a hill.
But with Jesse, even when he was driving fast on his motorcycle or the quad bike, I always felt safe. Like he was in complete control and would never let anything happen to me. It was probably naïve to think that, considering all the injuries he’d sustained.
Either way, I felt safe, but I also felt like we were just on the edge of losing control and something was thrilling about that as he deftly maneuvered the quad through a narrow section of the trail that cut through the trees. One wrong move, and we’d crash into a tree.
I’d never felt more alive.
This was such an adrenaline rush.
When he’d asked me if I was afraid to get dirty, riding on the back of his quad through the mud was not what I expected. But it had helped a lot. It was a reminder to live in the moment and enjoy it while it lasted. No need to think about the future or college or the fact that Jesse would be leaving soon.
So I shoved those thoughts out of my head, and I hung on to him for dear life.

Jesse aimed the hose at me, blasting me with cold water. I screamed, laughing as I lunged for him, trying to grapple the hose out of his hand. He pulled it away just as I dove on top of him, knocking us both to the ground, the spray from the hose raining down on us. We were both laughing.
I stared down at his face and tried to commit it to memory. The smile that reached his summer sky eyes. His tousled brown hair messy and disheveled. The water raining down on us. I traced a drop of water down his cheekbone.
Kiss a boy in the rain.
Close enough. I kissed his lips under the spray of the hose, the water falling like raindrops.
Letting go of the hose, he flipped us over and braced his arms on either side of my head. I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled him down to me for another kiss. I was greedy that way. Always wanting another kiss. Always wanting more. And more. And more. Of his everything.
He pulled away and got to his feet, offering me his hand. “Let’s take a shower.”
A shower. God, I loved this. I took his hand, and he pulled me to my feet. Being with him just felt so natural. Like it was perfectly normal for us to shower together.
We left our wet shoes outside the door, and when we got inside, we stripped off our clothes, and Jesse tossed them in the washing machine.
I couldn’t believe I was walking around his house naked. I couldn’t believe that I felt confident enough to do that. I followed him down the hallway, my eyes on his bare ass.
“Stop staring at my ass,” he called over his shoulder.
“If you didn’t walk around naked, I wouldn’t be staring at your ass.”
“So feisty,” he said, stepping under the spray of the shower.
“You like me feisty.”
He yanked me in with him and pushed me under the water. “I like you naked too.” He poured shower gel into his hand and washed me before he washed himself and turned off the shower.
