“You’re fucking succulent,” he says after she releases her hold on him.
Breathless, Eliana moves her other hand from the back of his head, placing it at the side of his face, and draws him up. He stands, leaning over her, bringing his face to hers. Their tongues meet in a clash of passion and mutual satisfaction. He hadn’t planned for this tonight, but he’s more than happy that it’s happened.
She catches his tongue in her lips and sucks, tasting the remnants of herself on him.Goddess, she’s perfect.
He sends out one of his tendrils as they continue to consume each other. A moment later, it returns with a warm, damp cloth. As much as it pains him, he pulls away from the kiss, and he’s pretty sure she whimpers when he does.
“I thought I would clean you up,” he says, holding the cloth out. He backs away, and holds her legs apart. Taking a moment, he admires the wonder before him. When his eyes cast up to hers, he sees a tiny bit of embarrassment, which he will not stand for. “You. Are. Beautiful,” he says, punctuating each word with a kiss down her thigh.
His hand gently places the cloth over her pussy and swipes over her, cleaning up the mess both of them have made.
“I am honored that you have shared yourself with me.”
“Stop that,” she says, blushing as she waves her hand vaguely in his direction.
“It’s the truth. You are immaculate, and watching you come is by far my new favorite thing.”
Once she’s cleaned up, he reluctantly helps her get dressed again. He tried to convince her to continue walking around naked, and that he would join her but much to his disappointment, she didn’t agree.
As he grabs the ice cream out of the freezer, she takes out a couple of spoons and joins him on the other side of the counter.
“We should probably disinfect that,” she says, motioning to the countertop she came all over mere minutes ago.
“But what if it erases the memory of how great you taste? I’ll never be able to verify that it actually happened,” he teases.
She pops a spoonful of the dessert into her mouth, and his eyes become fixated on her lips and tongue as she licks the remainder off. “I’m sure I could help you with a memory refresh if you asked nicely.”
He swallows. “I would appreciate that.” He scoops his own bit of ice cream and sends out his smoke again. If floats to the other side of the kitchen, cleaners in hand, and does the naughty work for him. A minute later and any remnant of how he feasted on her cunt is gone. At least for now.
“So not to burst the feel-good bubble right now,” she says, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks, “but are you sure Ev won’t stop by and have me running out the back door again?”
“He shouldn’t. I told him I wasn’t feeling well and was at Lach’s picking up some sleeping potion. So, unless he plans to come by to watch me sleep, which I don’t think he’s that desperate, we should be okay.”
“Good.”
He hesitates, the words sitting on the tip of his tongue. She’s here now, and given Everest and his propensity for stopping by unannounced, he doesn’t know when they will get a chance like this again. Before he can think too much about it, the question “Do you want to spend the night?” is out of his mouth, and he’s left waiting for her response.
Eliana turns her body to face him properly. Her hand lands on his thigh, and it’s as if he’s back in seventh grade again, being picked first on the dodgeball team. His heart races, and a nervous sweat begins to build at his temples. He wants to put his hand on hers, but with his hands now clammy, it will be too gross. No one likes clammy hands.
Answer,his demon barks internally.
Give her time,he mentally backfires.
“I’d love to,” she responds.
All of his nervousness dissipates as if it were never there in the first place. Her expression is reassuring, and her presence is calm. If he was Eliana, he’d be freaking out right now. Hell, he was a moment ago. He’s spent the night with many women before. Well, not many. A few. He’s never been a fan of the overnight stay, worried that it would send a mixed message about intentions. But her… oh, asking Eliana to stay is something different entirely. It’s opening himself up to something he never thought he’d have. Or something he didn’t even know he wanted.
He’s been content for so long in the pattern he’s in. The late nights with Everest. The whole game to pick up a new partner and take them home. Only to repeat it again the next weekend. It was fun. For a time, anyway.
But as he sits here, with Eliana gazing deep into his eyes, he realizes that maybe he wasn’t as content as he thought. Going through the motions doesn’t breed happiness. Being with her, though? It’s the best thing in the world.
CHAPTER35
Eliana
“Here,” Declan says, handing Eliana a folded T-shirt. “For you to sleep in.”
“Thanks.” Her eyes threaten to well up as she holds the soft fabric between her fingers. She tilts her head back, looking up at the ceiling, willing those tears to stay put. Now is not the time for a big emotional response. Bringing her head back down, she’s met with Declan’s concerned gaze. His unbound hair flows softly over his shoulders in loose waves thanks to the braid he always wears, and he scrunches his eyebrows together. His eyes search her, looking for what’s wrong, and not finding it.
