I burst into the room, ready to explain myself, only to find it completely empty.
My phone is on my bed, right where I left it.
I have three missed calls from Tally, from right before the event started, and about seven texts from her.
Tally
Where are you sitting? Could you wave or something?
Tally
Where are you??
Tally
Noah!! He stood me up. Where are you sitting?!
Tally
Answer your phone!!!
Tally
I’m back at the hotel. I just couldn’t be there anymore. Text me when you read this.
Tally
I just saw your phone in our room.
Tally
I’m really sorry, but I just…I called an Uber. Gran said she’d pay for it. On my way home. I’ll see you Monday at the store. Thanks for earlier today, I had a really good time with you.
There are two messages for Mo.
TheNoraReview:I’m at the main entrance, are you here?
TheNoraReview:I think it would be best if we don’t talk anymore.
When I click on her profile, it no longer shows her following me.
I drop my phone, sinking into the bed and burying my head in my hands. “No. No, no, no,” I groan.
She left. I didn’t get a chance to explain and then she couldn’t find me when she needed someone. I grab my stuff as quickly as I can. Maybe if I drive fast, I can get to her house tonight and explain everything.

I’ve beenin the car for an hour when my phone rings. “Tally?” I answer without even looking at the caller ID.
“Noah? It’s Annie.” My heart drops.
“What’s wrong, Annie?” I ask, noting the distress in her voice.
“Could you come help me?” Annie’s voice is quiet. “I need to move out tomorrow.”
“Out of your apartment?” I ask dumbly.
“Yeah.” She sniffs. “Mitch, he…well, I don’t really want to talk about it. But I’ll need some help so I can be out of here by Sunday.”
