Iwatched Kieron’s back muscles move with his motions to open the apartment door. The hallways were like a hotel; weird ass carpet, plain walls, and doors every few feet from each other.
I tried to push down the weird feeling that had taken up residence in my chest after the almost dissociative state that I entered in the elevator. I don’t know what I had been thinking, kissing him like that. But fuck, was it a good kiss. A kiss that I would definitely be thinking about later when I was all alone. He was so strong and so kind, but then he gripped my hair and turned my head up swiftly. I don’t know why, but I entered some kind of trance that made me emotionless. Like when Luca wanted sex and I just had to do it.
I felt awful after seeing the look on Kieron’s face when he realized that I’d mentally gone into hiding because he’d moved too quickly. How could he even want me like this? I don’t want to be around myself.
“Your palace, my lady.” Kieron said, pushing the door open and standing aside. I smiled at him and stepped through the door. I stepped through and felt him right behind me.
The light flickered on and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The apartment that he promised was beautiful and simple. There was a bed, a living room set, a massive TV that was much too big for me, and a simple, yet inclusive kitchenette. The entire place as far as I could see had a modern grey, white and stainless-steel look.
“Wow,” I whispered and stepped farther into the living room.
“It’s not much, I know. But it’s yours. I can take you shopping to decorate it and we can make it how you want.” Kieron said behind me. I could hear the hopefulness that I wouldn’t be disappointed with what he was offering.
“Kieron, it’s beautiful. It’s more than I need. Then I deserve.” I said softly as I walked farther into the room.
A large, warm hand took wrapped loosely around my forearm. I knew I could break the hold if I wanted to, but instead I turned and looked at the person who held onto me. Kieron was staring at me so intently that I could feel the anger from him.
“Don’t say that.”
“What?”
“Don’t say that something I’m giving you is not what you deserve. You deserve far, far more than you’ve gotten, and I intend to give you the world.” He said, his eyes locking onto mine and not letting me go.
“Thank you,”
Kieron let go of my arm, letting his hand slide into his pocket. The other hand went to the nape of his neck. My eyes flickered down, with the movement, Kieron’s white tee had risen and I got a peek of the toned v of muscle he had. He’d obviously not let his figure go in the five years we’d been apart. If anything, the giant of a man I knew five years ago had grown even bigger.
“Of course.” Kieron smiled when he caught my eye and I could feel a blush heat my cheeks.
“What happens now, Kieron? Do I just stay here and hope that Luca forgets about me? Do I give you and your father all the information I have on his family and wait until it is taken care of? Do I get my family out of here? How do I keep everyone safe? What about my job?” I started to ramble. The repercussions of everything started to come to the forefront of my mind now that things had calmed down just a bit again. Luca would kill everyone, not because he wants me, but because he wants me to suffer.
“Talia, baby, take a deep breath.” Kieron said calmly over my heaving breaths. “We will figure it out. I promise.”
A knock on the front door sounded loudly and I jumped closer to Kieron, who caught me with open arms.
“Mr. Tavish?” A male voice called out.
“Jonny, come in.” Kieron pulled me closer and whispered softly in my ear. “That’s just one of the guards. No need to be frightened.”
A shorter man with cropped brown hair wearing an all-black ensemble walked in and shut the door behind him.
“Kieron, we have a problem. Mr. Garzino is here and demanding to have Ms. Jones back. We have him contained, but there have been a few injuries.” Jonny told Kieron.
Kieron’s whole demeanor changed. He was still cradling me and still put me between him and any harm, but his expression, his energy. It all became sinister. A smile creeped on his gorgeous face and it became intimidating.
“Good. I’ll be right there.” Kieron said calmly. Jonny nodded and left the room silently.
“Do you want to be there for this?” He asked as soon as the door shut.
“Will he see me?”
“Never again.” Kieron vowed.
“What are you going to do to him?”
“What am I going to do or what do I want to do? Because those are two very different questions, baby.”
