She pulls the bottom of her dress down so all of her private areas are covered up before I kneel in front of her and fix my pants.
Jayne's hands shake as she fixes herself. When the both of us are done, I'm ready to get out of here. After this display I don't want to hear anything anyone has to say.
Jayne hurries to stay at my side, her feet skidding every few steps as I basically try to run out of the place.
"Stanley, hold on. Wait a minute." Zed rushes to catch up to me.
"No, I'm not going to wait. We did what you wanted; I'm ready to leave. It would be in your best interest if you got the fuck out of our way." Part of me wants him to try to stop me.
I know in the long run we'd lose, but at least I'd be able to shove my boot through this asshole's face.
"No, you're free to go. After a performance like that, it's clear you are here for the right reasons. I just wanted to make sure you had all the options available for your search for a third. Our main warehouse is closer to the pier. Have you made it out to the old shipyard?"
This is the information that we've been looking for. A main base for these assholes.
"No, we haven't had the pleasure." Jayne speaks up. Her voice is haughty. To anyone else, it might seem like she's just in the throes of bliss, but I know better. I don't know how she's managing to hold on to my hand. I'm sure she hates me. I hate myself for what I've done to her.
"I didn't think so. I'm sure you will be able to find something you'll like there. Most of the women there have been through extensive training. You'll find anything you are searching for there. Here, take my number. If you have any trouble getting in, just give me a call."
I pull out my phone and take Zed's number. I have no intention of actually using it, but I have to keep up appearances.
"Great, we'll be sure to give you a call. Now, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to go home with my woman." I glare at the man, still holding on to the hope that things don't go as planned.
"Of course. Thanks for joining us today, and for the show." Zed looks down at Jayne, looking her over one long time, obviously lusting after her.
I push my way through him, dragging Jayne behind me as I make my way to the exit.
Not even the fresh air outside is enough to cool me down. I'm ready to set fire to the whole place.
Jayne nor I say anything as we speed-walk in the direction of the alley where we parked the bikes. There's nothing to say. Not after what just happened.
I don't know if there will be any way to fix this.
I skid to a stop in front of the bikes in the alleyway, and a sickening feeling washes over me.
Jayne and I are here alone.
That means Creek, Lash, and Tella are still stuck inside that mall.
CHAPTER 21
ALL THE REST
SPIKE
How could this shit get any worse?
I don't even know what to say to Jayne. I know I should get her back home, some place safe as soon as possible so she can recover from what's just happened but that means I have to leave Creek, Tella and Lash behind.
I can't do that either.
I need help.
I thought I was ready to be in the lead but this clusterfuck of a mission is just more evidence that I'm not.
"Do you think Zed stop them for being spies too?" Jayne finally speaks. Her voice is hollow, like there's nothing behind it.
"I don't know. I hope not. I don't know what he'll make them do to prove themselves. I think I have to go back."
