“Actually, I was just thinking of you. I was wondering how to explain my addition of a harem to our living quarters?”

“Oh, that’s wonderful. I won’t have to lie there listening to you grunt and have your sweat dripping all over my soft, tanned, naked skin anymore. No more pandering to your every sexual delight, and I’ll be able to get a younger, fitter male to…”

“Alright, alright. No harem,” I quickly state.

“Well, now that is out of the way. Everything okay otherwise?” Taria’s voice tells me she is bored.

“Have you run out of things to do already?” I sit back and wait for her to list everything that she has accomplished so far.

“Not at all. I’m taking Ember into the town shortly to visit her friend, Hannah. You remember her. She works in the furniture shop, does all that fancy, intricate carving.” As she’s telling me this, I have no doubt that we will be having new furniture very soon. “I’ve been thinking that we could use some new furniture, too.”

“I’m sure Ember will leave there with even more bats. As though she could possibly need anymore.” I think Ember’s fascination with bats has become an obsession of late. There is no doubt that she is a force of nature when it comes to her warrior skills now, but there are bats everywhere you look. If we were ever invaded, she could stand off an army on her own.

“I’ll let you know what we buy so you can budget for it! See you later. Oh, and Bronze, make sure you cancel the females for the harem. If I get one scent of another female in our suite when I return, your male parts will be meeting one of Ember’s bats, up close and personal. Bye, my love.” As the phone clicks dead, I involuntarily clench my thighs as if to protect my crown jewels.

Without replacing the receiver, I dial Blood Pearl Pack and wait to see if Gerry answers.

“Hello, Blood Pearl pack. Luna Aurora speaking.”

“Hi, Alpha Bronze speaking. Is Alpha Gerry there, please?”

“I’m fine, thanks, Bronze. How are you?”

“I’m sorry, Aurora. I was just thinking about my male parts,” I say absent-mindedly.

“Ew! Too much information there, Bronze. That's an image I never thought I’d have scorched on my mind.”

“What? No! Let me explain…” I take a moment to explain my talk with Taria.

“A female after my own heart. I’d do the same to my beloved Gerry, too. A harem indeed. I don’t know what gets into your male heads sometimes. Well, yes I do, but why you’d let it slip out into the real world, that’s the bit I always find so amazing. Gerry’s here. Talk again sometime, preferably when you’re not thinking of your male parts.”

Gerry’s voice booms from the other end of the phone. “What are you doing calling my Luna and discussing your male parts? This had better be good!”

Explaining my talk with Taria yet again, Gerry relaxes and states, “Best not call someone so soon after that kind of chat. Let your mind do a reset back to factory settings, eh?”

“I think you’re right. Anyway, back to why I’m calling…”

Going over everything with Gerry, he is a little unhappy that we are going to use his Blood Pearl Pack as the guinea pig in the plan, but he does see the sense in it. I’m sure that will be an interesting conversation when he talks to Aurora about it later.

He also has his concerns over the role of Number Seven in all of this. That shifter is a nightmare. It could be a good thing if he were to perish amidst the carnage that is coming.

The chat with Connell is brief and concise. He sympathizes with Gerry but agrees that Blood Pearl Pack is the way to go to bring the war to a rapid conclusion. Discussing troop deployment, we agree on how many to send to whom and where. The when is still a work in progress.

Gabe surprises me during our talk when he states that he has been stockpiling supplies to feed our secret operation. Although he didn’t have any details, he trusted to his judgment on what sort of numbers we would be looking at overall, and he has had his pack working hard on preparing field rations that would reduce our logistics requirement immensely.

Trying to make contact with Xavier was more difficult than I imagined. I mistakenly believed that with a quick call to Flint, he’d give me Xavier’s contact details and hey-ho, all done. But no. Flint wouldn’t give out his details, and in hindsight I can respect that. Flint is going to contact Xavier and either haveXavier contact me or pose my question directly. I just hope it’s sooner rather than later. I feel like I’m saying that a lot lately.

Meeting with my Chief Warrior Adaline, we discuss how many warriors we can send to the Blood Pearl Pack, and how many to the Spirit Walker Pack. Once we decide on how many to leave with the defense of the pack, the rest is easy enough.

The warriors dispatched to Spirit Walker Pack need to be inconspicuously noisy. Loud enough to attract attention but not loud enough to arouse suspicion. Those headed for Blood Pearl Pack need to be as silent and invisible as possible. We need to be seen to be reinforcing Spirit Walker Pack and leaving Blood Pearl Pack to their own defense.

Adaline is not happy that she has been designated the safety of the pack and therefore won’t be going anywhere. I’m not sure if it’s all Chief Warriors that don’t enjoy being ‘left behind’ or whether it’s just the female ones. I seem to recall Alpha Falan mentioning something similar in passing.

TARIA

Putting the phone down after the call with Bronze, I shake my head. Harem indeed. Another male with an inflated opinion of his stamina in the bedroom department. I’m not dissatisfied in that department by a long shot, but I know that if we had a ‘see how long you can go’ contest, I’d be the clear winner.

“Something amuses you, Luna Taria?” Ember’s voice startles me. I forgot she was here when I rang Bronze.
