My whole body is on fire. Since Monroe has left and we have had the cabin to ourselves again, we’ve been insatiable.
Ellis says we’re making up for lost time. All I know is that I want him, and no matter how many times we make love, it will never be enough.
“I’ve missed you, too,” I say. “But if you keep touching me like this, I’ll wanna go back with you now, and we need to stay.”
He moves his hands to my stomach, kisses the side of my neck, and I feel light sparks tracing their way through my body.
I close my eyes.
“I know, I know,” he responds. “We can’t keep leaving things early. It looks bad, but you smell so good.”
I sigh, pressing my ass against him.
“Let’s talk about something not sexy, like how did the council meeting go today?”
He pauses and loosens his grip a little.
“There are still some dead patches of land in the forest, and a couple of days ago, someone in Jasper’s pack reported a sighting of a shadow monster.”
“Oh, my goodness,” I exclaim, “were they okay?”
“They were fine,” he tells me. “Apparently, the monster was in hiding, so whatever is going to happen isn’t happening yet.”
I nod, turning around to face him.
Those eyes.
We stare at each other for a long moment.
“Did that work?” I ask him.
“Nope. Still want you. Work for you?”
I shake my head.
Ellis takes my hand, and we’re just about to leave when Monroe and the rest of our group come over.
“It’s time for dancing,” Lacey sings, pulling me away.
Sawyer, Jasper, and Greg take Ellis off, and we both gaze at each other as we’re pulled apart.
A couple of hours later, we’re on the dance floor. I’m grinding against him, swaying to the beat of the song.
“Come on,” he murmurs into my ear.
It’s nighttime, and we sneak out into the forest.
I giggle. “But we didn’t say goodbye.”
“We’ll be back,” he says.
I’m not sure that we will.
Once we’re back in our cabin, it’s seconds before Ellis has me pinned against the kitchen wall.
He’s kissing my neck. “Fuck, Danielle. It’s like torture looking at you and not being able to touch you.”
“You can touch me,” I giggle.
