“We should celebrate,” I finally manage to say something. “Dinner? Wherever you want.”

“Actually…” She grins. “I’m craving ice cream. Pregnancy thing, I guess.”

I bark out a laugh. “Ice cream it is. Whatever you want, mama.”

The word makes her beam, and what it does to me just confirms I’ll spend the rest of my life giving her whatever the fuck makes her smile like that.

I kiss her long, deep, hard. Putting in there everything I’m too choked up to say with words.

“Thank you,” I whisper hoarsely against her lips. “For crashing into my life. For trusting me. For giving me everything I never knew I needed.”

“Daddy…”

“I mean it, angel. That storm brought me you, and now…” I touch her stomach again, wonder in my voice. “Now we’re going to be a family.”

“The best family,” she agrees, pulling me down for another deep, wet kiss.

I think about how much has changed. The lonely man on the mountain found love, purpose, a future. All because one brave girl got lost in a storm and found her way to my door.

“Baby?” Tyra says softly.

“Yes, angel?”

“Our baby’s going to be so freaking lucky to have you as a dad.”

I have to clear my throat past the emotion. “I’m the lucky one sweetheart.”

And I am. The luckiest man alive.

THE END.
