“Yes.” She smirked.
“And just so you know, Ma, we did that shit ’cause we wanted to. We too big to be scared of that shit.” Unique nodded down to the leather dangling from his mother’s hand.
Without another word, she stepped down into the room, mobbing toward him. Everyone moved out of her pathway like she was Moses parting the Red Sea, and before Unique could say another word, Lisara was wearing his ass out with the belt.
Like clockwork, phones were being pulled out as everyone commented and egged Lisara on. Unique did well saving face, but when the belt hit that nigga’s back like a horse being told giddy-up, he hollered like he was singing in an opera.
As much as I’d tried to remain stoic, I couldn’t any longer seeing that shit, cracking the fuck up with everybody else as he hustled toward the exit of the den, careening around the corner with his mama on his heels.
After witnessing a grown ass man get his ass beat, shit calmed down, and I was able to chop it up a little bit with Banks’s brothers before they left.
“This backyard is some shit to aspire for,” I said, chilling under the cabana with her.
The sun had gone down, and now that everyone was gone, she wanted me to stay the night with her here. Lisara approved, and so did Prime, so long as I stayed in one of the many guest rooms, which I’d already planned to do anyway.
Banks was too loud for me to get some under the same roof as her parents. And the few times we did have to be low-key while fucking due to being in a public place, I had to use a hand to conceal her mouth, which I didn’t care for because not only did I like hearing her, I wanted my hands free to grope, roam, and grip to my heart’s desire.
Also, the last thing I needed was for Prime to overhear his daughter calling me daddy while I was in them guts. I was surewhatever understanding we’d come to would fly right out the fucking window immediately.
“I know. That’s why I’m always over here, especially during summer. All me and Kailey do is lay by the pool, swim, and eat. Not as much as we used to now that we’ve graduated and I got a boyfriend, but we still make time.”
I chuckled, kissing her head as she laid on my chest.
“Told you today would be straight. They love you too much to disregard you over a nigga.”
“I know. We’ve just never had beef, so it was weird for me. But I’m happy it went well.”
“Me too, real shit. It felt good to be in the same room with them niggas laughing instead of on guard,” I admitted.
“Unique is crazy.” She giggled, body vibrating against me as we both laughed, recalling Lisara beating on him.
“I know yo’ mama used to tear some ass up, so I don’t even know why he said that.”
“Right. I didn’t technically grow up with them, but I know for myself, my mama didn’t play. And my brothers tell me she was the disciplinarian when they were little too. Their father was like mine in that he would rarely if ever hit you.”
I smirked, thinking about a baby version of Banks causing havoc.
Hooking her chin with my finger, I looked down into her eyes before pecking her soft ass lips.
“I know you apologized, but I actually wanna thank you for giving moms that one-two.”
“What? Why?” Her brows furrowed.
“She told me she ain’t been in the mood to drink since.”
“But I thought you said she has been drinking.”
“She said that’s ’cause she forces herself to do so, but the urge isn’t genuine,” I explained, having had the same inquiry when my mama told me.
“I see. I still feel terrible.”
“Don’t, Peep. Sometimes you gotta knock a muthafucka out for them to catch on.”
“That’s surely true.” She hugged my abdomen tighter as we stared up at the sky that was an array of colors at the moment. “So what do you think of ‘If This World Were Mine’?”
She was so fucking random, but just like everything else about her, I loved that shit.
Snickering some, I shook my head at her.
