A serious-looking boy of about fourteen appears from around the corner, his gaze on the tablet in his hands. He looks up, and Thea inhales, “Wow, you guys have some seriously strong genes. Poor Shea’s going to be the only redhead.”

Thea was right; our genes were strong, and fuck me if the thought of her filled with my baby had me wanting to say fuck it so that I could find the closest place to get her horizontal on.

Hawk sniggers, as if he knows where my thoughts have gone. He says nothing, though. Wrapping an arm around the youngster’sshoulder, he introduces him, “Kaleb, this is Thea. She’s Coal’s Old Lady.”

Kaleb's serious face breaks into a smile, and at that moment, it’s like looking at Bolt when he was younger. Kaleb holds out his hand to Thea. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“You too,” Thea replies with a smile, shaking his hand.

“You’re done for the day, son. Head over to the café. Your mum is over there waiting for you. Thanks for sorting the stock for me,” Hawk tells him.

“Okay,” Kaleb replies, handing his dad the tablet before walking out the door. Hawk watches until he’s crossed the street and is at the café door. When he turns and waves, we realise that this is something they do on the regular.

“Right, let’s get onto what you two need doing today. Wedding bands if I’m correct?”

I nod. “Yeah, and if you have time, I’d like to discuss designing something for our daughter. It has to be something that I can add to when we have more children, though.”

Hawk nods, replying, “No problem. We can sort that. Head on down to my cubicle; it’s the one on the end. Raven is busy in his, but he won’t mind if you want to peek in and have a look at whathe’s doing. I’ll be down shortly. Let me lock the door, as we don’t have a receptionist today.”

With Thea’s hand in mine, we walk down the passageway past an empty cubicle. The next one has another of my distant cousins, Raven, working on a back piece. His client has earbuds in and looks to be asleep. Raven stops when we get to the door, nodding at us. I know Cai had dropped him off on Hawk’s doorstep years ago, and he’d never left.

“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you lot should come with a warning,” Thea mutters, making Raven and me laugh.

“How you doing, Coal?” Raven asks. “Good man,” I reply. “We won’t keep you, just wanted to say hi.”

Raven tilts his chin towards Thea. “This your lady?”

“Yep,” I wrap my arm around Thea’s shoulders so she’s snug under my arm. “Thea, meet another cousin, Raven.”

“Nice to meet you,” Thea tells Raven, who nods, replying, “You too. Stop again to say bye. I’ll be here for another couple of hours.”

“Will do,” I answer, leaving him to get on with his back piece. We walk into the next cubicle, and I take a seat, tugging Thea onto my lap, ignoring her protests.

“Baby,” I tell her. “You’re not too heavy. Now wrap your arm around me and get comfortable while we wait. This won’t be the last time you’re on my lap. I enjoy having you close.”

Thea goes quiet, her eyes widening at my words, but she does as I ask and melts into me. I’m hoping that once I’ve made her do this a few dozen times, she’ll get used to it and it won’t bother her anymore. I’m not sure why she thinks she’s heavy. I mean, yeah, she’s tall, with wide shoulders and broad hips. She’d look silly otherwise, but there wasn’t an ounce of fat on her. I had a feeling she hadn’t always had enough food because the woman barely ate.

Hawk walks in and doesn’t even blink at Thea on my lap. He just wheels his chair closer like it was the most natural thing in the world for an Old Lady to be sitting on her man’s lap. And if Thor and Maura were anything to go by, it probably was. Turning his tablet towards us, he shows us our names done in Celtic font as a nod to Thea’s heritage.

“What do you think, baby?” I ask Thea.

“They’re perfect,” she whispers.

Hawk pushes his chair away from us, asking, “Okay, let’s get them done. Then we can discuss the tattoo that Coal wants. I’ve got some ideasthat I think you’ll like. Who wants to go first?”

Surprising me, Thea stands up saying, “Me. I’d like to go first, please.”

Hawk has Thea sit, and once she’s comfortable, he starts. I stand next to Thea, holding her right hand, watching as Hawk etches my name into her finger. Possessiveness like I’d never known grows and fills me with each letter that’s added to her virgin skin. I’m hard as a rock and uncomfortable as fuck, but my cock will have to wait his turn because I’ve got a plan in place to make her mine in all ways.

It doesn’t take Hawk long to tattoo our names onto our fingers, and he’s wrapping them up and giving us the usual care information. “Although you probably know the routine now anyway,” he tells me. I’d been in a few times over the last few months to add to my sleeves, so he’s not wrong.

“Before you go, what do you think about this?” he asks, flipping through his tablet. He makes a few adjustments to the screen before he turns it towards us. It’s a tree, similar to the tree of life but with distinct roots, almost as thick as the branches of the tree. In the roots is my name and Thea’s intertwined as if holding the tree up. The first branch of the tree has Shea’s name in it. There are several others that are empty, making me wonder how many children he thinks wewere planning on having. Hawk must have seen something in my face because he chuckles and explains, “They don’t all have to have a kid’s name in them.”

“Well, that’s a relief,” Thea laughs. “I was wondering how many you thought we were going to have. I mean, I get that Coal comes from a big family, but I think eight is four too many.”

“Four it is then,” I declare with a wicked grin at Thea. A grin that changes to amused when her face flushes and her eyes dart to Hawk. He’s a biker, though, same as me, and I’ve seen him with his wife and the brood they have. He will not bat an eye at me, making it clear I wanted my wife.

The need to mark her and fill her with my babies was overwhelming, and I was hard put to restrain myself from grabbing her and tossing her on my sled and getting us back home as fast as I could. Instead, I paid Hawk, shot the shit for a bit, shouted goodbye to Raven before escorting Thea out of the shop and to my sled. While she was adjusting her helmet, I took my phone out of my pocket and smiled at the message from my mum of Shea covered in what looked like chocolate frosting, sitting on the floor in her nappy.
