I rolled my eyes. “I know you do. Everyone does.”

“Does that make you jealous? Do you think he’s trying to take over the crew?”

Well, there was that. I’d have been lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about that. “I think that he wants to belong to something bigger than himself.” That, I did believe. “Okay, we’re almost there. Ready?”

“Ohh god, yes… I’m ready,” he groaned, exasperated.

“Fine. You better be.” I didn’t say anything else as I pulled the Jeep into the alley where I could get a good view of the cross street where we were going to take the Alpha down. My palms were actually sweating as we waited for that moment to come. I’d never done anything like this. With Dante, bombing those businesses, the risk factor wasn’t nearly as high. This shit was as real as it got.

After being parked in place for three hours waiting for this kibbles and bits motherfucker to show up, finally, I saw his car approaching. I started the engine and switched into gear. I had to make sure I blocked him from going forward.

“Ooohh shit… this is really about to go down!” David squealed in excitement as he bounced a bit in his seat.

“Keep it together,” I reminded him. I watched closely, and then pressed my foot on the accelerator. I sped out of the alley, cutting off the Alpha’s path. He slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting my car. No doubt, he wanted to avoid damaging that beautiful, fucking classic red car of his. I jumped out of my vehicle just as he climbed out of his.

“Are you fucking insane?” he growled at me.

Yeah, he certainly had the arrogance of a supe. Most humans rarely just jumped in the face of strangers these days. You never knew if the person you were confronting would eat your ass after you mouthed off. Behind him, I saw Chandler pulling up, making sure to block his car in place. He, Delilah, and Zachery all climbed out.

“You’re the one who almost hit me,” I retorted, keeping to the plan of being the irate driver.

The wolf growled. “If you had ruined my ride, I would have killed you.” He looked like he could certainly get the job done. He was tall, at least six-three or four, with nice muscles. And since he was a werewolf, that just meant he was strong as shit.

“We saw what happened, we’ll be your witness if you need it,” Chandler offered.

“Not necessary, no harm done,” the Alpha said, then he turned from them back to me. “As for you, move your fucking car,” he snapped.

Now that his back was towards them, we had the opportunity to strike. Delilah, who was the best aim among us, shot him in his left shoulder with the tranquilizer. He snarled, canines coming out as he reached for the dart in his shoulder blade.

“Motherfuck—” He couldn’t finish his insult as the effect of the drugs put him on his ass. He fell to the ground, eyes closing as the tranq did its magic.

“Grab him now,” I ordered.

Quickly, Chandler, David, and I scrambled over to him and picked the Alpha up.

“Shit, this bastard is heavy,” David whined as we shuffled over to the Jeep and placed the guy in the back. I wasn’t going to complain, but I did agree. The dude was very heavy, shit! We didn’t have time to catch our breath because we really couldn’t risk being seen. I searched the Alpha’s pockets, looking for his cell phone. Once I found it, I tossed the device. The last thing we needed was to have to worry about its GPS tracking capabilities.

“Get in,” I said, then ran around to the driver’s side while David climbed in back with the wolf. His job was to keep the guy drugged. We didn’t want him waking up before we got him where we wanted him. My heart was pounding inside my chest, I was so fucking charged. Holy shit, we actually caught a fucking supe! Okay, Chandler, things were looking up for you in my eyes.

“Can you believe it, Dom? We did it!” David exclaimed from the back.

“Keep your eyes on him, David. If you see him coming to, dose his ass,” I ordered.

“Yeah, I know. Damn, I’m not an idiot,” David snapped.

“I didn’t say that you were—just, fuck it… fine.” I didn’t want to get into any kind of argument with him. The last thing I wanted was for him to be distracted. I drove to the sanguinista called TheDrain, in Orion. This one wasn’t as high class or well-guarded as Bliss, which was owned by the vampire Prince, Théoden. This place was the pits compared to that one. Whereas Bliss was supposed to serve the caviar of human cuisine for top dollar, The Drain was like fast food for a cheap price. I still wasn’t sure how this was going to work out, but Chandler swore he had it all under control.

Quickly, we were approaching the second phase of our plan, and the part I’d been dreading the most. I climbed out of my Jeep when I saw Chandler pull up in the Ford sedan he’d stolen. He climbed out along with Delilah, who was beaming, and Zachery, who seemed to be just as charged.

“Okay, step one is done. Remember, we don’t want to kill anyone,” I reminded the group.

“We don’t want to be killed or captured, either. If it comes to them or us, I’m choosing us, and you should too,” Chandler said, then cocked his gun.

I really didn’t want to kill anyone, but I also didn’t want to be caught. I’d shoot to injure, not to kill. “We can incapacitate them if it comes to that,” I said.

“Oh my god, now is not the time to have this discussion. Let’s do this,” Chandler snapped.

“Fine.” I waited by the back door with David while Chandler and Delilah made their way around to the front of the building. We had no idea what was going on and could only hope things were going according to the plan. About five minutes passed before Chandler managed to open the back door.
