“If you fly, you’ll be here in five,” Ty said.
“But then I won’t be able to show off my new ride.” I’d just purchased the beauty I had been driving all day.
Tylendel huffed. “You’re just as bad as Théoden with those cars.”
“I appreciate the artistry that goes into making my alternate mode of transportation. Anyway, I’ll see you in a bit.”
“Until then.”
We ended our call and I left to go to his house. I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for Marcel.
CHAPTER FIVE
DOMINIC
“We need to go over the plan one more time, detail by minute fucking detail,” I said to my crew. We were about to attempt to pull off something that had never been done before, especially not by a human rebel cell.
“I don’t see why we keep talking about this. We could have been executed this plan. You’re the only one holding things up,” Chandler said.
I really didn’t like or trust the blond motherfucker. Somehow, I was the only one in my crew who didn’t. Everyone else seemed to be loving the shit that came falling from this asshole like it was divine chocolate. He didn’t like me either, but I was the leader of the crew now, since Dante had turned sides. He was one of them. I had heard reports of Dante fucking and feeding on humans in Orion, just living it up as one of those demons. He used to hate them as much as I did, but I guess he was full of shit, too.
“I’m not willing to risk something going wrong and us getting killed on this mission. Excuse me if I want everyone to live through this,” I retorted.
“We need to act now. Every day we don’t, we risk the chance of Deacon and his pack closing in on us,” Delilah said.
“Not only that, but this whole thing is time sensitive,” Chandler said. “We have to make sure we keep the fires burning. Right now, the vampires are probably wondering who killed one of their own, and the werewolves have an idea that a vampire killed their pack member. The plan is to complete the triangle and set Théoden up. As one group, we can’t do much to change how things are. But if we put them at each other’s throats, well, that will make some changes.”
“I love the way that sounds,” Delilah beamed as she turned to me. “It’s what we’ve been hoping for. We need to move on this, Dominic.”
“I still want to go over the plan. It will be our first big mission since Dante…” I trailed off, not wanting to think about my former best friend. “We have some newbies that might get nervous out there during their cherry popping. I don’t see the harm in going over it one more time.”
Delilah shrugged. “Fair enough.” She turned to Chandler, waiting for him to start.
Chandler huffed, “Is there anyone here that doesn’t know what they have to do?”
I sighed. “Humor me, Chandler. This is your plan, I just want to make sure everyone knows their parts.”
“We only have one time to get this right,” Delilah added.
Next to me, she was the only person who’d been in the crew as long as I had. Everyone else was pretty much new. We’d lost our older members when Dante was captured. I hated seeing Wallace and that other human killed on live TV for those monsters’ morbid fucking entertainment. I mean, god, to be burned alive and sliced in half? Fuck, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy—wait a minute, I would wish that fate and a thousand times that on every fucking one of them. But to see it done to a human, to see them go through that pain while those monsters laughed and cheered… it had made me puke. I wanted to make them pay, and if that meant I had to start with Deacon, then move my way up to that bitch ass vampire, Prince Théoden, so be it.
Chandler huffed, then nodded. “Fine. Is everyone paying attention?” he asked as he looked around the room.
“Yeah, get on with it,” David said. He was new too, only about two months with the crew.
Chandler smirked. “Now, we’ve been spying on the wolf Alpha, Elijah, for a full week, and he goes to the Boneyard every morning. That is what’s going to give us the opportunity to take him. We, of course, can’t go in there and get him, too many wolves. But he’s not protected, doesn’t travel with a crew, so we’ll get him on the street. Every day, he goes down Fifth Street, so we’ll intercept him at Grandville. With that area being mostly steel mills, there won’t be much traffic, no one to get in our way. Dominic and David will cut him off from the front. Delilah, Zach, and I will cut him off from the rear and act like we’re witnesses to the near collision.”
He paused to make sure everyone was still paying close attention. We were. “That’s when you, Delilah, shoot him with the tranq.”
“If he’s an Alpha, fully mated no less, the tranq won’t last long on him. It’ll feel more like a stun than something that would incapacitate him for any length of time. That’s why it’s imperative to get his arms and legs bound in the silver chains,” I said, stressing the importance of that part of our plan.
“That depends on how much tranq we use and how young he is. This Alpha is young, trust me. I’ve done my research,” Chandler said. “The tranqs will put him on his ass, mated or not.”
“Let’s hope so. We should still use the chains,” I said.
Chandler nodded. “Sure. Makes sense. Okay, once we have him, we make sure we dump his cell. We don’t need the GPS getting in our way. Next, we take him to that vampire blood bar, The Drain. It’s closed during the day since vampires are asleep, but there are some human employees who work there twenty-four-seven to keep a close eye on the slaves.”
“We don’t want to kill them if we don’t have to,” David said. “We should free the slaves.”
