Monroe sighed and ran a finger over his perfectly arched eyebrow. “Well, the humans we put in the Greenleaf and Forrest Grove territories pretty much confirmed this. They said vampires have moved into the River Rock territory over the past two weeks and have beenembracingnew vampires. They’ve made themselves at home. The chatter heard around Orion is that some of the other Alphas aren’t too pleased by that because wolves don’t appreciate vampires, or any supe for that matter, all up in their shit.”

Well, being a wolf Alpha myself, I could attest to that. I didn’t want to share my territory, but I also wanted Odin Colony. Being half and half, the wolves I turned were fully immune to dragon venom. They were also harder to kill than a normal wolf. But Odin Colony was huge and I had to make sure my attacks were strategic. I couldn’t risk another pack coming to the aid of one I was trying to take out in order to gain their territory.

If I didn’t want to spread panic, then I was going to have to leave my hybrid wolves at home. I couldn’t seem like the threat I really was, because I couldn’t risk them ganging up on me. If vampires were willing to work with wolves, that caused a serious fucking problem. I had once planned to do a hostile takeover, but over the past few weeks, I’d learned a lot about the place where I wanted to live. For instance, there were five Alphas with large packs, a vampire Prince with at least three-thousand vampires, and a dragon King with over two-thousand dragons and twelve fucking Knights!

I only had three Knights. The true strength of a dragon King could be judged by how many Knights he had under his command. When a dragon King took control, he shared hisheartsbloodwith the dragons, and depending on how much his heart could take determined how many Knights he could have. Those who were already Knights under the former King were first to endure the ritual. If the King was powerful enough to make new Knights, then he could.

I’d only had the strength to do the ritual with three Knights. There were five when I first took the crown. That meant their ability to be Knights died with the old King. So, they weren’t as powerful as they had been, and they could no longer performRites of Passage. Jesus Christ, twelve Knights? This plan of mine just kept getting harder and more hopeless looking, but I wasn’t about to give up.

“I can see that mind of yours working overtime. Your gears are turning so loudly, I hear them cranking. Care to share?” Monroe asked, sitting down on the armrest of my chair.

I sighed as I sat back. This whole thing had me frustrated like never before. “We need to come up with a plan of attack that will keep their guard down where I’m concerned. I need to come off as a run of the mill wolf pack that is making a territory claim,” I said.

“What if you lose? It would have all been for nothing,” Monroe worried.

“I can’t go in there with dragons and hybrid wolves. That would be showing my hand, and it will give them time to come up with a counter attack. No, Monroe, I have to take the chance of appearing like I’m less than in order for me to take over. I need them to underestimate me and continue to do so until I have them right where I want them,” I explained. The more I talked about it, the more a new plan was starting to form.

“Okay, I see where your crazy ass is going with this,” Monroe said, smiling. “It’s a risk, though.”

I nodded. “That territory is worth the risk.”

Monroe snickered.

“What’s so funny?” I asked, one eyebrow cocked.

“Yourass is funny. Your dragon half wants to horde all the pretty, sparkly things and your wolf half wants bigger and better. You are just all fucked up with your dual natures,” he joked.

I growled. I swear, he was lucky to be my best friend.

“Don’t be growling at me.” He leaned over, kissing my forehead, then rose off the armrest. “Okay, well, when do you want to make this move? And how many wolves are you taking?”

No matter how much he irked me at times, there was no way I could stay mad at Monroe. “Tell me, who’s the weakest Alpha?”

“Our human spies are still gathering that information. But here’s the thing, the closest pack to us where we’ll have to enter that territory is the Lakeview Pack run by Laurent. He’s also the newest Alpha, but I don’t know how old he is,” Monroe said as he gazed lovingly at his new purse.

“His age won’t matter. One bite from me and he’s dead,” I stated. No wolf would be able to survive my dragon venom, and with my wolf venom traveling through their veins as well, it only made my bite more toxic. “My concern is this situation with… what’s his name again?”

“Who?” Monroe asked with a wrinkled brow.

“The vampire that is this other Alpha’s mate,” I reminded.

“Ahhh, intel says it’s Dante. After tomorrow’s full moon, chances are the mating will be complete.”

“I can’t risk trying to attack him, not with two other packs standing in my way. I’ll just have to let that happen and take it slow. So, I want to know how many wolves are in Laurent’s pack, and Sophia’s pack is next to his, so I need to know how strong hers is as well,” I said, chaptesetting my plan in motion.

“All right, I’ll get on that. You should get in the shower before that cum dries on you,” Monroe said, then he sashayed his very sexy and fuckable ass out my bedroom.

I stood up and looked at my throne. I didn’t see a damn thing wrong with it. My own insignia was carved into the headrest; it was a dragon and wolf back-to-back with my initials in the crest. The armrests were very unique. One was a dragon and the other was a wolf. Gaudy my ass. Fuck Monroe.

CHAPTER TEN

ELIJAH

Ifelt Deacon’s body pressed to mine and his fingers were prodding my asshole. I swore he stayed horny. I opened my eyes, turned my head, and looked at him. “What are you doing?”

He smirked. “My finger is in your asshole, what does it look like I’m doing? I’m getting you wet so I can fuck what belongs to me.”

“So fucking crass,” I remarked, then widened the spread of my legs so he could slide another finger inside me.
