“Aye. Right this way.”

Edna and Angus followed Dr. Ferguson down the hallway, past the nurse’s station.

“Congratulations,” the nurses said as they passed.

“Here they are,” Dr. Ferguson said, stopping in front of a doorway and ushering them in. “I’ll be back in a while.”

“Oh, my!” Edna gushed on seeing the babies in the arms of their mother and father. “They’re beautiful!”

“This is Maura,” Maggie said.

“This is Declan,” Dylan said.

“Would ye like to hold them?” Maggie asked.

Edna held out her arms and took wee Maura in them. She wondered if the little lass would have the same gift that she and Maggie had. It would be wonderful to have another witch in the family. Either way, these babies would be loved so very much. Edna placed her finger in Maura’s wee hand. Her slender, tiny fingers wrapped around it and squeezed. Edna’s eyes popped open in surprise. “She’s a strong one!”

Angus held little Declan, staring adoringly down at his wee face. Declan had chubby little cheeks and a sprig of dark hair. He stared up at Angus seeming to know that this was the man who would spoil him every chance he got.

“I should call yer mother and father,” Edna said.

“It’s already done,” Dylan replied. “They are on vacation in Spain, but they’ll leave as soon as they can get a flight home. They can’t wait to meet their little grandbabies.”

“Can ye believe it, Auntie?” Maggie said. “They’re here.”

“Aye, they are and they’re so verra beautiful, just like ye.”

Dylan cleared his throat, making Edna laugh. “And ye,” she assured him.

“Thank you for noticing,” Dylan teased.

They handed the babies back to their parents. Outside the windows, the sun was rising. “When will ye be able to come home?”

“Dr. Ferguson thought I should stay one more night. So tomorrow morning.”

“Ye must be exhausted,” Edna said.

“Surprisingly no’,” Maggie said. “I feel refreshed for some strange reason.”

They stayed a while and gushed over the babies and Maggie. Edna didn’t really want to leave, but she wanted Maggie and Dylan to have some time alone with Maura and Declan.

“We should be going,” she said.

Dylan handed Angus the car keys. “You can take the car. I’m going to stay here with my wife and my babies.” His smile couldn’t be any bigger. “I’m a dad!”

“We’ll head back to the inn. Call us when yer ready to come home and I’ll come get ye,” Angus said.

“We will,” Dylan said, walking with them to the door. “Thank you, Edna. None of this would have been possible without you.”

“I’m happy to see that me meddling has resulted in the creation of a happy little family.”

He kissed her on the cheek and gave Angus a hug. Edna was overcome with emotion. “So much love. So much happiness.”

Angus wrapped an arm around her shoulders and walked her to the car. They stood in the parking lot for a while as he held Edna in his arms and the sun made its way higher in the sky.

The next severaldays at the inn were a whirlwind. Edna and Emilie did all they could to be of assistance to Maggie. They changed diapers whenever necessary and held the babies as often as possible.
