“Ice water is water with ice cubes in it. We have something called a freezer and it makes little cubes of ice to put in yer drink. It makes it nice and cold,” Edna said. “Ye’ll have so many new things to learn about.”

“I’ll get some for you, Emilie, so you can try it. Edna?” Dylan was at the bar now, gathering their drinks on a tray.

“Please,” Edna replied.

“This is a nice surprise,” Maggie said, passing the potato salad to Emilie. “It’s wonderful to have a family meal together again.”

Dylan placed all the drinks on the table and then held his glass up. “Welcome home to those who’ve lived here before and to those who are new to Glendaloch.”

The meal was a success. The newcomers enjoyed everything very much and complimented Dylan on his cooking skills.

“I’ll be sure to teach you all of my tricks,” Dylan said. “Once the twins arrive, I’ll need help in the kitchen.”

“And I’ll need help with the guests,” Maggie said.

“I’m sure they’re up for the task,” Edna said.

Robert took hold of Emilie’s hand. “We are happy to be of service, but first, I wonder if there would be a place for us to marry.” He kissed Emilie’s hand.

“Aye. There’s a small chapel here in town,” Maggie said.

“I’ll make the arrangements for ye,” Edna said. Her first job as a member of the Council of Witches had been a success and she couldn’t be happier. She hoped they wouldn’t be upset that she’d brought Emilie and Robert to the future. It really was the only option that made sense.

“Are you a witch, as well, Maggie?” Emilie asked.

“Aye, although I’ve been so preoccupied with the twins’ birth that I havenae used me skills much.”

“Have ye heard anything from the Mackenzies?” Edna wondered.

“They are all doing well. The children are growing, and it looks like Jenna may be pregnant again.”

“Wonderful. Have ye heard from anyone else?”

“No’ recently, which tells me all is well with our time traveling family.”

“Is Dr. Ferguson in town?” Edna hoped he was. They relied on him for baby deliveries in both the past and present.

“He is. He got back last week and brought Lady Catherine with him. They’ll be staying in town for a while, so he’ll definitely be here for the arrival of the twins.”

“That’s a relief,” Edna said.

“I wasnae worried. He’s always verra good about being wherever and whenever it is he needs to be.” Maggie pushed herself up out of the chair and started to clear the plates which made everyone else jump up too.

“Dylan, why doona ye show Robert and Emilie around. I’m going to call down to Pastor Robins to arrange for a wedding and Angus can clear the table. Maggie, ye should go sit down.”

“All right,” Dylan said. “You’ve seen the lobby and the dining room. I’ll show you the kitchen, the garden and the cottage where Maggie and I live.” He led them through the doors into the kitchen.

Edna left Angus in the dining room while she went into her old office to call down to Pastor Robins. He answered right away.

“Hello, Pastor Robins, this is Edna Campbell.”

“Edna, how are ye? Are ye back in town?” he asked.

“I’m here until after the babies are born.”

“We’ve missed ye and Angus.”

“We’ve missed all of ye as well. I was wondering how quickly we could arrange a wedding at the chapel.”
