The windows were completely fogged up. Our merging groans filled the silent space of the car.

I ran my hands along her back.

She reached for the button on my jeans. My dick flexed, desiring to be set free.

A flashlight bounced off the window.

Fuck.

Aurora and I did our best to put on our clothes quickly. I used some of my powers to speed up the process.

A figure was approaching the vehicle.

I spared a glance at Aurora in her bra before she pulled her top over her head. Her face flushed with pleasure. A primal feeling washed over me as I was the one to put that expression there.

Three successive knocks wrapped on the glass.

I rolled down the window an inch, one hand close to the dagger in case.

“Good evening. How can I help you, officer?” The gentleman was wearing a recognizable uniform, a bulletproof best with “POLICE” in bold white lettering.

“Good evening. Noticed a car parked out here past closing and wanted to check in and ensure everything was alright. Are you alone in there?”

“I am not,” I responded.

“Mind letting us check in to make sure whoever else in there is alright.”

“Of course, not a problem.” I rolled the window the rest of the way down, knowing Aurora was fully dressed.

“Hi, Miss. We are checking to see if you’re alright.”

She nodded enthusiastically. “I’m great.”

The officer tapped the end of his flashlight against the window frame. “You two should head on home now. First time is a warning. Second time is considered trespassing on private property once the place closes.”

Aurora pushed the start button, and the engine purred to life. “Hear you loud and clear. We’re leaving now.”

He bobbed his head while placing the flashlight back in his tool belt. “Enjoy the rest of your evening and get home safe.”

I rolled up the window as he backed away from the car.

“About the project?” I said.

Aurora startled me by bursting out laughing. “After everything that happened, you want to discuss our class assignment?”

“I think that’s the safer subject, yes.”

I knew I was the one that started this all, but Aurora was acting much more forward than I expected. In all my years of watching her, I had never quite seen her exude that much confidence. It was damn attractive and only made me want her more.

“Safe is boring. You drive a motorcycle. I thought you lived on the edge of adventure, not with your nose in a book—that’s normally my role.”

“So why the sudden urge to be reckless?”

Her thumb traced the leather steering wheel’s threading. “I don’t quite know. I’ve never done anything like we just did before, but it was intoxicating. Not letting myself think, following my intuition on what I wanted and what made me happy. You should try it sometime.” She threw me a wink.

“When you think like that, there tend to be consequences to those actions that ripple well past what you could ever assume.”

“About the bet.”
