My mom chose to bring me into this world. Her leaving was a sacrifice for me to stay. It wasn’t a choice because I was unworthy of being loved.
I swiped at my lingering tears with the side of my hand. I knew what I had to do.
My voice was steady despite the turmoil rolling through me. “I choose to recite the prophecy,” my words echoing off the high ceilings. I couldn't bear to see Ben sacrifice himself, even if it meant leaving my mortal life behind forever. I was not sure what lay ahead for me, but for now, this was what I had to do.
“Remember, you are making a choice that cannot be undone,” Lucifer said, halting his action, his voice low.
I nodded, my heart heavy but resolute. I had chosen, and now I had to live with the consequences.
As I turned to Ben, our eyes locked, and I could see the brief glimpse of relief in his gaze, tempered by a profound sadness. I had saved him, but at a cost, I couldn't yet fully comprehend.
And so, in the dimly lit chamber of Lucifer's castle, surrounded by tools to study the moon and stars, I made my choice. The die was cast, and my destiny was irrevocably altered.
Lucifer’s eyes remained on me expectantly. The prophecy had been burned into my brain the moment Lucifer had revealed it to Ben and me that first time:
Born of Heaven, forged in Hell,
Dimidium comes, the tales do tell.
With sunlit grace and starry gaze,
The power to heal, the world to blaze.
Between God and Lucifer, a bridge does stand,
Balancing chaos with a gentle hand.
For in the heart of twilight's seam,
Lies the hope of every dream.
Between the Lord and the Devil’s might,
Her song rises, banishing the night.
But an angel, in the gloom so deep,
Seeks power, his vendettas to keep.
Drawn to power, by vengeance swayed,
Yet, in his path, the half-angel laid.
For even shadows can find the light,
In the embrace of the one too bright.
Their love, a dance of flame and frost,
A tale of what's gained, and what's lost.
For in their union, old tales shall bend,
The fallen and half, their fates to mend.
Dimidium, half and whole, shall rise,
Mending rifts beneath sunlit skies.
