Gwil’s expression was one of complete bliss, and Hyax loved that he’d been the one to make him experience such delight. They connected on so many levels. While they’d both had plenty of other lovers, their desires and needs dovetailed perfectly. He liked to be in charge, and he was blessed with Gwil as a partner who had a slight submissive side to his sexual energy. He relished the sensation of having Gwil buried inside and began to move his hips, setting a rhythm for his own enjoyment that he knew would excite Gwil. The pace was hypnotic, and he was still high as a result of Gwil feeding from him.
Hyax bucked as Gwil wrapped his hand around his cock and began to pump and he came with a cry. Gwil shouting out his release. Fuck, this man was perfect.
He took a moment to catch his breath, his heart still hammering and his mind a blur of stars and hormones. Gwil moved him gently so Hyax could rest his head on Gwil’s chest.
“I think I now understand why people think vampires are sexy.”
Gwil chuckled. “I thought you already thought me sexy.”
“You as an individual, but not vampires in general. I get it now.” He wondered if there was something he was missing, and remembered another vampire trait. “Did you use your thrall?”
“A little,” Gwil admitted. “My thrall isn’t so all-encompassing, but then I didn’t really need to. You weren’t looking to fight me, and were quite susceptible after I’d worshipped your neck. I didn’t realise it was such an erogenous zone for you.”
Hyax hadn’t realised either, and he was sure it was more Gwil’s administrations than a true kink. “I’d like to explore it again without the bloodsucking.”
“We can, and I will do my utmost to behave myself.” He grinned, the points of his fangs exposed.
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”
Gwil pulled him closer. He had expected having his blood sucked to have hurt more, or at least the aftermath, but apart from a slight tingle, his neck was fine. “Why doesn’t it hurt?”
“A mix of local anaesthetics in my bite, plus you’re riding an endorphin high. Give it a couple of hours and you’ll probably want to apply a healing charm. I hope there won’t be enough discomfort to interfere with the brewing.”
He had a high pain threshold, and a little neck nibble wasn’t going to put him off his stride. “It shouldn’t do. Has Solivatus been in touch to confirm everything is ready?”
“Yes, all set up. He’s expecting the last of the more interesting ingredients to be delivered overnight.”
“I’d have been more surprised to find he kept them in stock. Not that they’re dangerous, but rare, and not used much. I’ve never had cause to stock crested pixie toenails.”
“Well, look at all the exciting firsts you’re getting to have with this case.”
Hyax snuggled closer. “I do love a bit of random potion-brewing. We’ve twelve hours before I can start. I think a cuddle and a nap are in order.”
“I can work with that.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
Gwil knew that if there’d been an alternative, Hyax would have chosen to brew there rather than at Solivatus’s lab. He’d never been to this particular property, as far as he knew, Solivatus owned several houses, but this Georgian townhouse was nestled in a quiet street in Pimlico. Gwil doubted the neighbours had any idea what went on next door, given the gardens on either side alluded to human family life with swing sets and paddling pools.
Hyax was busy chopping ingredients, a number of which Gwil wouldn’t have been able to identify even if the reward had been a blow job. Solivatus had shown them to the lab and Hyax had been grudgingly impressed, but not enough to warrant allowing Solivatus to watch him brew.
“Can I do anything to help?” Gwil asked, perched on a stool at the side of the lab bench.
“Not really. To be honest, I just need to concentrate.” Hyax glanced up at him. “You could go and spend some time with Solivatus.”
Solivatus was becoming a more frequent part of his afterlife, and Gwil hadn’t been sure how Hyax would react to him spending more time with his sire. “If you’re okay with that.”
“I wouldn’t have suggested it if I weren’t. I don’t trust him more than I would any other vampire, present company excepted, but I’m not going to act like a jealous arsehole because you’re speaking to your sire. If he hadn’t turned you, you wouldn’t be here, so I have that to thank him for.”
This was huge progress. Hyax had moments of being more highly strung than the string section of an orchestra. “I’ll go find him then. Text me if you need something.”
“This part should take about an hour. Then I’ll need to add your blood and then let it steep.”
A maid greeted him as he left the lab. “Can I help you, sir?”
“I’m looking for Solivatus.”
“Right this way.”
