“I’ve become the one thing on this earth I swore I’d never be.”I look Levi right in the eye.

“Baby, no,” Levi starts, but I don’t want to hear it.

Swirling around, I see a door that I hope is the bathroom and retreat as quickly as I can, but get turned back around and roughly pushed up against the door.

Levi growls and his face is so close to mine our noses touch.

“You listen to me, Saylor and listen good.”He holds my chin up with his fingers.“You are kind and loving and loyal. Those are the qualities that made me want to marry you so fast. You might have been with Brody but in your heart, I know that you were always still mine. Can’t you see that you waited for years before you could even move on?You knew in your soul that we were always meant for each other.Don’t let those thoughts seep into your mind and spread.I am yours and you are mine.”

As if knowing what I need, Levi circles my waist and pulls my body into his for a bone crushing hug as I cry it out.I thought I was done crying over my marriage, but I guess I’m not.He whispers in my ears how much he loves me and how he’ll fix this for us, but all I can do is hold on to him.Anchor myself to him, as if I need a lifeline right now.

“It’s okay Saylor, we’ll get through this,” he says as I finally calm down.

“How can you be so calm? The Levi Thorne I knew would burn the whole town down by now and have Brody in an unmarked grave.”Levi is the most laid-back guy I’ve ever met but he was always so possessive with me after we got married. This isn’t the man I married. Not by a long shot.To be honest, I loved how obsessed he was with me.

“Saylor, when I lost you, I thought my world ended.I’ve lived the last two and a half years without you, and I don’t ever want to experience that again.Dr.Blake and I have spent months and months dealing with the possibility of you moving on with everything that you thought had happened.I don’t blame you for one second.Yeah it hurts to know that you’re not only mine any more, but I’m the one who caused this and I have to be man enough to own up to it.Like I said before, this is a complicated situation and I’m not the same man as I once was two years ago.”

“Wow,” He truly has changed since I last saw him.Maybe this new shrink is really breaking down his deep seeded walls.

“But I do expect you to uphold your vows, now that you know we’re still married,” he quips.

And there is the caveman I knew.

“Excuse me?”

“I don’t want that pencil dick anywhere near my pussy again. Is that what you wanted me to spell out?”This man has some nerve.“Especially, since he deceived you for over two years, knowing that I was trying to find you.”

Rolling my eyes even though he has a point, I twist the knob and the door opens to reveal the luxurious bathroom. Before Levi can step foot in, I close the door in his face and lock it.I find my clothes in a pile on the floor and sweep them up and start to put them on.

Once dressed and after I brush my teeth, with Levi’s toothbrush, I make my way out and find him on his phone, typing away.He notices me right away and puts his phone up.He’s already dressed in jeans and a polo, looking like he just walked right out of a store catalog and not just rolled out of bed.

“I’m going to go over to Grandma’s to get Halo.”I avoid his gaze on me.I can’t help but think that this is the most bizarre situation I’ve ever been in.

“Can I see her again?”he asks, and it’s the second time I’ve ever heard Levi sound vulnerable. The first was when we had a showdown at Brody’s house the other night. My heart sinks with him thinking that he has to ask to see his own daughter.

“Of course, she’s your daughter. You have every right to see her,” I assure him.“Levi, I’d never keep her away from you. This might be a crazy situation but you are her father and that will never change.”

“Thank you.”I nod and he lets out a breath.“I’ve got a session with Dr.Blake in a few minutes, would you like to stay and have one with me?”

I know that patience was never a strong suit with Levi, but this is one case that isn’t going to be fixed overnight.

“I’m not ready to sit down with you and a shrink. The last few days have been a lot, and I need time to process that on my own before I do anything else or speak with someone.”

He nods his understanding, but I can tell he’s disappointed.

I move to leave, but turn to face him.

“Levi,” I blush before I continue.“As great as last night was, it can’t happen again.Drunk or not, it shouldn’t have happened.I’ll take the blame because we both know I can be persuasive when it comes to alcohol, but it can’t and won’t happen again.”He smirks, and a giggle leaves my lips.“We share a daughter and right now she needs to be the priority. We have a lot of trust issues that need to be worked through to even become friends at this point,” I say with finality.“I don’t even know what the next steps are. Then there’s the Brody situation, and I need time to work through all of this.”

“I understand.”He nods.

Walking into Grandma’s house, the smell of breakfast fills my nose.I hear voices in the kitchen and make my way there.Greasy food sounds good and will hopefully help the slight hangover I’ve got.

“Good morning!”I say in my best cheery voice, but inside my stomach is in knots. Can they tell Levi and I had sex last night?I don’t think I could handle Grandma and Grandpa thinking of me in a bad light, jumping from one man to the other.

Glammy and Granddad are here, along with Alice, Everly and Linc.I’m surrounded with hugs before I can make it three steps into the room.

“Good morning, dear!”Grandma returns with the same excitement.“Come have a seat and we’ll all have breakfast together.”
