Levi
ILOVE MY WIFE.
I do.There is nothing in this world that I love more. Not being an attorney or flipping the houses I own or all the money it makes. Not the wins I have under my belt in the courtroom or the fact that I was considered one of the hottest bachelors in the country alongside my brother, Linc.I used to think that all the extra digits in my bank account was what I wanted in life. What I was put here on this earth for.But it is not.Not by a long shot.
In fact, the moment a pair of the sexiest arms leaned over me to get the bartender’s attention at the bar I was visiting with my brothers, Lincoln and Reid, the entire course of my life changed like the flipping of a coin.In a flash, I saw my future breeze in and it was in the shape of the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. She smelt of sugar cookies and it made my mouth water. Her long brown hair floated down her back in curls. The most alluring chocolate-colored eyes captured me in a trance. When her arm brushed against mine, it shot tingles down to my core and I knew I was a goner. You could tell she had a big personality that drew people to her.Her sweet voice towards the bartender snapped me back into focus and I knew that I’d do whatever it took to be the one who took all her attention the rest of the evening.
She mesmerized me from that moment and something about her drew me in.It was like she had this aura around her, letting everyone in that bar know she was something special. My whole world stopped in those few seconds as I watched her giggle at something her friend was saying over her shoulder.Hook.Line.Sinker.Even her giggle set me on a dreamy path.
Reid elbowed me in the gut, just to get my attention, but I was not paying him any mind as she leaned past me, blocking my view of the guy next to me.Not that I was talking about the game with him anymore. My body jolted as our upper arms lightly skimmed each other.I was such a goner.
My mind exploded like the grand finale fireworks on the Fourth of July.No other touch from someone had made my body sing on contact. The beer bottle in my hand touched my lips to help with my dry mouth but my lips didn’t close, as I was still staring at the most beautiful woman in the room. So, the alcohol slipped from my mouth and down the front of my shirt.
Classy.Way to look like a loser.
Reid had snapped his fingers in my face to bring me out of my trance.I knew then that she was something special and I’d be damned if she left here with some other loser, other than me.No, I saw her first and there wasn’t any other outcome that would be acceptable.I just needed to work up the nerve to speak.
So, what did a good looking thirty-year-old guy who had the world at his fingertips do?I stared, waiting for the right words to say.
I was never one to seek out women, but this one was different.I had a feeling she was going to change my life forever.Normally, I had a plan for everything I ever did.I was a scheduled person, structure was my life, but this little slip of a woman burned my mapped-out life up in flames. All it took was one look into her bright blue eyes and I knew she was mine. The look she gave me when we were almost nose to nose told me that she was just as captivated as I was.
“Are you just going to sit there and stare or are you going to actually talk, handsome?”she asked me.
The swig of alcohol I just had didn’t do anything to help with my dry mouth. She leaned closer and the smell of sugar cookies made me want to nibble on her neck.
“How are you?”I asked and as the words left my throat, I wanted to slam my face down on the wooden bar top.Who says stupid lines like that?
She giggles and it’s like music to my ears.
“I’m doing just fine, handsome,” she counters.“You enjoying the game?”I nod because in my thirty years of living I’ve suddenly developed mutism.
“Don’t be running off new customers, Saylor,” the bartender says as he comes over with a tray full of beers.“It’s twenty-five dollars.”
“Just being friendly, Cal,” she responds as she starts to dig into her purse.
My brain starts to finally function, “Add it to my tab,” I say to the bartender.
“Sure,” he says with an eye roll then walks off.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she tells me and places her soft hand on top of mine. The warmth of her hand sends tingles up my arm.
“It’s my pleasure.”
“What’s your name?”she asks.
“Levi,” I answer.“What’s yours?”
“Saylor.”
“Saylor is a very unique name.”
“My dad was in the Navy so Mom thought it was fitting,” she tells me.“You want to get out of here?”
“You’re very forward,” I say, never having a woman be so upfront.
“When I see something I like, I seize the day.”
“I can respect that.”I give her a smirk. She’s a confident bombshell that just filled my weekend calendar up.
