“I’m willing to try if you are, Lorrd.”When she blinked, a lone tear cascaded down her cheek, but the handsome alien warrior was quick to wipe it away with his thumb.
His expression became so gentle and affectionate, she thought she might burst into tears.She had never imagined a man might look at her the way Lorrd was looking at her now.As though she meant something to him.As though his hopes and dreams were pinned on her.

Lorrd’s anticipationgrew as he carried his sweet human—his little star—out into the cool night air.Though he appreciated Emmy’s offer to put them up in the guest bedroom for the night, he wanted complete privacy as he claimed Wren as his mate for all time.
He planned to make her moan and scream with pleasure, and he didn’t want her to worry about being overheard.Likewise, he didn’t want to hold back either.
He called out a verbal command, and theKerrla’sboarding ramp unfolded from the ship.He glanced over his shoulder at the house, and he was satisfied when he caught the faint glimmer of the protective shield he’d erected around the house using a series of mobile shields he’d had sitting in his ship’s cargo bay.He’d placed the same type of shield around his ship for extra protection.Just as theKerrlawould remain safe from attack tonight, so would the elderly couple’s bakery and home.
Satisfied that there would be no interruptions, he walked up the boarding ramp, carrying Wren onto his Vaxxlian cruiser.
He was glad he’d gotten the environmental controls, as well as the water filtration system, the food replicator, and several other important systems functioning at optimal levels earlier in the day.The virus still had a grip on many of the other systems on his ship, including the launch sequence, but he was confident he would fix the remaining problems soon.
Of course, he would have to be vigilant as he piloted theKerrlaaway from Earth.Just in case the tainted transmissions from Poseidon had been intentional.Though Wren didn’t believe anyone from the compound possessed the vast wealth necessary to pay off an interplanetary corporation like Poseidon, Lorrd still wasn’t convinced the so-called Prophet from Harmony hadn’t somehow ordered the hit on his ship.
He resolved that in addition to expelling the virus from his ship and repairing theKerrla’ssystems, he would have to alter his ship’s unique identification signature before attempting to depart Hillsboro.He would even attempt to create an invisibility shield around his ship.While he’d never outfitted his ship with such a shield before, he knew the basics of how it could be done.If he could build powerful deep space probes that could discover scientific marvels like the Eshunna Passage, he could erect an invisibility cloak around his ship.
Whatever it took to keep Wren safe, he would do it.
He carried his soon-to-be-mate down the corridor that led to his quarters.The pleasing floral scent of her hair tickled his nose with each inhale, and he also kept detecting the aroma of the growing slickness between her thighs.
Just as he was anticipating the night to come, so was she.
