Her face turned a dark shade of pink, and she squirmed anew and gave him an uncertain look that made him realize just how innocent and inexperienced she likely was.
“Thank you,” she said in a stammering voice.“I suppose I smell like frosting.I helped Emmy make cupcakes this morning.”
“I’m not talking about the frosting.I’m talking about the slickness that’s gathering between your thighs.I’m talking about your arousal.”
Her eyes widened further, and her blush deepened and swept down from her face to envelop her entire neck.She appeared stunned, and he found he wanted nothing more than to kiss her at this moment.
So, he took her face gently in his hands and slanted his mouth over hers.He closed his eyes and pressed his lips to hers, softly at first, before he delved his tongue inside to meet hers.
She didn’t try to evade his kiss, but she didn’t participate.Not at first.
But just when he thought something might be wrong and he was about to pause the kiss, she whimpered and moved her tongue against his.She also placed her hands on his forearms and wiggled her bottom over his raging hardness.Fluxx.Was she doing it on purpose?
He relished her tiny moans as he deepened the kiss.As his desire grew, his tongue began to vibrate.Wren gave a startled whimper, though she didn’t try to break the kiss.
She felt perfect in his arms, and the increasing scent of her arousal was driving him wild with lust.As intensely as he craved her, he would need to continually remind himself to be gentle with her as he claimed her for the first time.
The last thing he wanted to do was hurt her or frighten her.He would rather die.Perhaps that was a strange thought, considering that he’d just met her, but it was the truth.A truth he felt deep in his soul.
The urge to protect her was all-consuming.
Footsteps sounded on the stairs, and he reluctantly withdrew from the kiss.Wren peered up at him, still flushed, as she panted breathlessly.He was breathing hard himself.That kiss… it had been everything.It had awakened and energized him in a way he’d never anticipated.He suddenly felt like he could conquer the whole universe.Just because his female had enjoyed their first kiss.
“Oh my,” came the elderly woman’s shocked voice.“Should we come back later?”
Wren started to get up, but Lorrd tightened his hold on her and made a playful noise of reproach in his throat.He wasn’t ready to part with her.Not yet.Would she object if he wanted to hold her like this during the entire trip to New Vaxx?
“You don’t need to come back later,” Lorrd finally replied.
He stood while holding Wren close.He loved that she smelled like frostingandfeminine excitement.Even now.Even though they were no longer alone, she couldn’t control her desires.If he slipped a hand inside her pants, would he find her soaking wet between her thighs?His blood heated.
“Have you reached a decision?”Lorrd asked, glancing at Emmy and Myles.
“We’ve decided to stay on Earth, though we want to thank you for offering to bring us to New Vaxx with you,” Myles said.He slipped an arm around his wife, and she smiled, leaning into him.
Well, if they had been arguing, at least they’d reached an amicable agreement in the end.
“We love the idea of traveling to New Vaxx,” Emmy said, “but we have a lot of family and friends on Earth that we would miss too much.Brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.I know there’s a lot of unrest in the US right now, but I’m hopeful that things will get better.And if they don’t get better, Myles’s brother has a state-of-the-art bunker.He’s invited us to join his family on more than one occasion.We’ll be okay.”
Wren tensed.“But the roads are blocked and the Greenrail is shut down.The fighting is raging in the countryside right now.Don’t you hear those blasts?The rebels are close.Aren’t you worried they’ll attack Hillsboro?”
“Oh, the Greenrail has been shut down plenty of times before,” Myles said.“Same goes for the roads being blocked.And yes, rebels have attacked Hillsboro before too.We’ve always survived, and that’s what we plan to keep doing.Like Emmy said, if things get really bad, we’ll go stay with my brother’s family in his underground bunker.”
“If you decide to stay with your brother’s family,” Lorrd asked, “how would you get there?I did not see any hovercars or hovercrafts parked near the bakery when I arrived.”He didn’t like the idea of leaving the elderly couple unprotected.Yet he couldn’t force them to leave Earth.
“My brother’s bunker is only five miles away.We could just travel there on foot.”Myles held up a hand to prevent Lorrd from interrupting.“Hold on, hold on, I’m not as foolish as you might think.A few years ago, I bought two Gorrovlian invisibility shields on the black market.Before Emmy and I set off for my brother’s bunker, we would suit up in the invisibility shields, and no one would notice us as we traveled.It’s always been our backup plan.”
“Gorrovlian invisibility shields?”Lorrd was surprised by the old man’s resourcefulness.
“Yep, and they work great,” Emmy said with a smile.“They were worth every galactic credit.And in addition to the Gorrovlian invisibility shields, we would also be wearing body armor and helmets.”
“I suppose that is a clever plan,” Lorrd admitted.“Before I leave, however, I would like to help you reinforce your home’s security.After all you’ve done for my mate, it is the least I can do.”
“That’s very gracious of you,” Myles said.“Thank you.”
“Yes, thank you.”Wren placed a hand on Lorrd’s chest and gave him an approving look.“I’d really hoped they would agree to come to New Vaxx, but it makes me feel better knowing you’re going to help them make their house safer,” she added in a hushed tone.
With great reluctance, he slowly put Wren on her feet.
