Or she should at least know I was enjoying watching her.
Without much thought, I greeted, “Hello, wife,” my voice coming out in an unintentional growl.
Chaos ensued as she jerked upright. The laptop clattered to the floor as Aurora tried her damnedest to cover her lower half with the blanket she was lying on top of. And that pesky vibrator landed only about a foot away from me. It was almost laughable how it continued to vibrate, dancing enthusiastically along the floor.
I picked it up and located the button on the bottom, silencing her little friend.
“We’ll have to play with this later,” I said as I walked casually into the room, setting the toy on her nightstand.
“What are you doing here, Talon? How the hell did you get inside?”
“Why, visiting my wife, of course. And I had a key made.” I wasn’t about to throw Dean under the bus.
“Yes, I see that, but why?” She yanked at the bedding, trying to cover up more as I sat on the edge, which trapped the end of her blanket. Her legs were now twisted in the soft material.
“Because I missed you?” I made it sound like a question, disguising the truth of the words. I was met with her angry, orgasm-stolen glare. “If you must know, I have work in Knoxville. It was easiest just to come stay with you.”
“You weren’t invited.”
“What’s yours is ours… remember?” I reminded her of our recent vows. Which prompted me to look at her fingers, which were bare.
“Where are your rings?”
“Where is yours?” she bit back, noticing I wasn’t wearing my wedding band either. Until the marriage was officially announced by my team, which was something I was still working on, I thought it best not to be seen wearing it.
“Touché. I’ll wear mine if you wear yours.”
“No,” she countered. “Can you please leave so I can get dressed?”
“I was enjoying the show.”
“Oh, I bet you were.” She stared at me, waiting for me to buckle, but she didn’t know me well enough. I wasn’t going to back down. “Fine.”
She tossed aside the blanket with a flourish, the soft, pink material floating down in a heap beside me as she stomped over to her dresser. She moved so quickly I only got a quick glimpse of her before she tugged on cotton panties and then a pair of denim shorts. But from what I saw, she had a great—
“Are you done gawking?” she asked with narrowed eyes, continuing her clomps over to the nightstand, snatching up the toy I set on top and tossing it inside the drawer. Her shorts hugged that glorious ass with frays that must’ve tickled the backs of her thighs.
Ignoring me completely, Aurora left the bedroom, and I watched a black mass dart down the hall behind her. I was intrigued, so I went after them both, finding Aurora perched on a barstool, drinking from a bottle of water.
I moved to the opposite side and leaned against the counter, facing her.
“Why are you really here, Talon?”
“Does it matter?”
She snarled at me, and I felt something brush against my ankle through my suit pants.
“Who is this?” I asked as I scooped up the black cat. Its eyes were a startling shade of green. When I didn’t get a response, I looked up from petting the cat to catch Aurora’s confused gaze.
“What?”
“That’s Draco. He hates everyone but me.”
“Draco?”
“I’m a fan ofHarry Potterfanfic. Draco and Hermione.”
I had no idea what she was talking about, and I told her so.
