“Then you did a runner on me.”
“I did not!” Steph protests. “I had friends to meet.”
Will laughs, “Oh yeah. Coincidence that, seeing you at Billy’s for breakfast.”
“You dirty minx,” Victoria laughs. “You didn’t come home the night before.”
“That’s well out of order. Where the bloody hell were you?” Will jokes, and Steph pushes two fingers to his chest and rolls her eyes. Now Will’s started, he can’t stop himself.
“I couldn’t believe my luck the morning I picked you up for the airport, Vickie. There was my runner, bold as brass in her skimpy pyjamas. You know she gave me a false number.”
Victoria is genuinely shocked.
“Steph, you didn’t!
“She did,” Will replies for her. “It didn’t put me off though. Since I knew where to find her, I might have nipped over once I dropped my brother home.”
“Nice to know you didn’t waste any time,” I tell him.
“I’m so glad he didn’t,” Steph replies while combing her fingers through his hair.
“It’s such a small world,” Victoria says dreamily and when I think about this whole situation and everything that’s happened, I couldn’t have put it better myself.
