Aswe continued our exploration of the island,Iasked the tour guide about the different animals in theAzores.Whenhe mentioned rabbit, my wolf perked up inside.Uponhearing about sheep on another island, he then stirred, eager to go out and hunt.

We’renot going to another island,Itold him.Atleast not during this trip.ButI’dfind time one night while we were here so he could enjoy rabbit.Afterall,Iwas enjoying all the amazing food on this island.

Afteranother magical night together,GiannaandItook some time apart after breakfast the next morning to explore on our own.Shewent for a swim to go in search of a shipwreck whileIwalked to historical locations inPontaDelgada.

Whenwe met up for a seafood dinner at another one of the restaurants recommended, she asked, “Howwould you like to go on anotherJeeptour tomorrow?Wecan exploreFurnasand the east side of the island.Itincludes some interesting stops thatIthink you’ll appreciate.”

“Soundsgreat.”

Ina lower voice,ItoldGianna, “Idid some digging while you were swimming yesterday.Seeingwhich animals lived in theAzoresand such.Ifound rumors online of a wolf pack living on another island.”

“Oh?”Herbrows arched. “Areyou interesting in visiting?”

“No.”Ishook my head. “Justthought it was interesting to hear of a pack living here.”Igazed around the verdant paradise that surrounded us. “Iwonder what it would be like to live on an island like this.”

Shemurmured and glanced around. “Mustbe nice.”Thenshe turned to me. “Ilove it here.”

“Inever want to leave.”

Shereleased a low laugh, which sounded like a song to my ears. “Ican’t promise that, but we could always come back one day.Whata fantastic getaway it’s been with just the two of us—no restaurant, no club, no responsibilities.”

Andno damn vampires attempting to kidnap my mate.Abitter taste coated my tongue, andIdrank some beer to wash it away.Iwouldn’t let that sodden memory ruin such a brilliant day.Leaningcloser toGianna,Isaid, “Weneed to go away like this more often.”

Sheleaned her head against my shoulder. “Indeed.”

Thatnight,IleftGiannafor a few hours to take my wolf out to hunt.Hesavored every fascinating new smell in the forests.Oncehe caught the scent of rabbit, he went on full alert.

Theprey was captured, and my wolf grew as enchanted by this island asGiannaand me.

Thenext morning, we embarked on anotherJeeptour.Itwas another fascinating day with many stops overlooking the verdant areas below, perfect for photos.Wetook several of the spectacular landscapes and selfies of the two of us.Wewalked, holding hands, up to another lookout point.Igazed down, wondering if any prey lived in the forests below.

Ourdriver took us to theFurnasvolcano.Wewatched how locals buried pots of cozido stew in the ground for the day to be cooked by the steam underground.Howfascinating.Icould have watched that experience for hours, but we had much more to see.

Westopped for lunch to taste the traditional stew at one of the restaurants.

Itook a hearty spoonful of the stew, which included a delicious combination of pork, seafood, and vegetables.Theflavors mingled on my tongue, andImoaned in appreciation. “Thisis amazing.Whatan experience.”

“Ithought you’d like it.”Giannabeamed at me and then touched the back of my hand. “Weend the day at a pineapple plantation.Thebest part is that we can sample pineapple in everything from beverages to desserts.”

“Soundsperfect.”Ileaned closer and whispered, “ButIwas hoping you were on the menu.”

Herlips twitched into a sly smile. “Thatcan be arranged later tonight, my love.”

“Good.”Iflashed a suggestive smile. “BecauseI’malways hungry whenI’maround you.”Ileaned back in my chair, took a sip ofSagres, and gazed at my stunning mate. “Ilove how many of these adventures involve sampling food.Youknow me so well.”

“Ido indeed.”Shegave me a warm smile. “Imarried a chef, whose love language is food. So, to show you how muchIlove you,Iwanted to speak your language.”Shearched one brow. “HowdidIdo?”

Ichuckled. “Excellentcommunication skills.”Iglanced into her beautiful eyes. “Iknow you love me,Gianna.AndIlove you.ButI’dbe happy anywhere—or doing nothing at all.”Isqueezed her knee under the table. “Allthat matters is thatI’mwith you.”

Mymate.

“Youhave me,Sebastian.”Hereyes shined with earnest and love. “Always.”
