“I’lldestroy anyone or anything on this planet for her.”Iprowled closer, every predatorial sense at acute levels and aimed on this threat. “Startingwith you.”

Ashriek pierced the night.ItwasGianna.

Iglanced over, but the distraction cost me.Thevampire lunged at me with claws outstretched and fangs bared.

GIANNA

Sweettridents,Ididn’t want to leaveSebastian, butIcould get help, soIran toward the club to go get the gang.AsIreached for the door handle, a cackling laugh resounded behind me, so eerie, it chilled me to my veins.WhenIpeered over my shoulder, my breath rattled in my lungs.

Itcouldn’t be…

Mr.Bonesstrode over to me on animated limbs.Myeyes widened at the horror movie scene come to life.Beforemy mind could even process the terror, the skeleton wrapped its bony arms around me, pressing my back against its monstrous rib cage.

Ishrieked. “Getoff me, you bony freak!”Istruggled to escape its unnatural grasp, but accomplished nothing other than flailing, and it tightened its grip around me.Howthe hell was it moving and now imprisoning me in its spindly arms?

Ananguished cry cut through the darkness, one between human and wolf.Iwhirled my head towardSebastian, who shifted as he rolled across the ground, tangled withZane.Inthe next blink,Sebastianwas all wolf.Herolled over and jumped to all fours, incredibly massive, and with a deadly gleam in his amber eyes.

Bloodsoaked his beautiful charcoal-gray fur.

“I’llkill you!”Iscreamed atZaneand yanked at the skeletal arms caging me in. “Letme go!”

Theskeletal grip tightened around me and then my feet flew off the ground.Asurprised yelp escaped me asIflailed against this monster.Theblack bricks of my club were moving. No, we were the ones moving.Thisunnatural prop wasgrowingand lifting me with it.Ikicked back with all my strength and struck its shins with my heels, but the impact didn’t slow the skeleton.

Iglanced over my shoulder and into its gaping eye sockets.Pinpricksof purple light glowed brighter inside the darkness within, spreading like skeletal fingers.Somethingwas in those eyes, something so dark that an icy shudder snaked from my head to feet.Ajagged sob crawled from my lips.

Sebastiansnarled, drawing my attention back to him.Heextended his massive claws and fangs beneath the moonlight and charged atZane, landing a blow.Thevampire cried out, but then spun away using its inhuman speed, and clawedSebastian’sflank.Hegroaned and staggered.Moreblood marred his fur.

Horrorclawed at my throat.

“Sebastian,”Imurmured, aching to see my husband in such pain.Thiswas all my fault.WhatcouldIdo?Ihad to get out of this unnatural thing’s grasp and help him.

Think, think!WhatIcouldn’t do was react without a plan as that wasn’t getting me anywhere.WhatcouldIdo while restrained by this unnatural creature?

AlthoughIwas restrained,Istill had my voice—whereIcould control my magic.

Aftertaking a deep breath,Ipinpointed onZaneand crooned, “Backaway, vampire.”Energeticvibrations rolled into my words.Ihoped to disorient him without affectingSebastian.Keepingmy focus on the vampire,Isang out, “Concede.”

Zaneslowed his advance, the menacing scowl on his face faded, replaced by confusion in his eyes.Sebastianlaunched at the vampire, knocking him to the ground.ThenIturned my power onto the creature imprisoning me in its bony cage. “Putme dow?—”

Amega-sized skeletal hand clamped over my face, cutting off my voice.Isquirmed and again struggled to free myself from this hold, but only managed to burn through more energy, tiring me out and leaving me covered with beads of sweat beneath this damn catsuit.Throughgaps between spindly fingers,Iwatched in helpless frustration as the fight continued.Zaneleaped away fromSebastian’sattack and sprung to his feet.AsZanesneered atSebastianwith a cruel grin, he appeared to shake off my spell.

Asinking sensation engulfed me.Werewe screwed?

Thesound of screeching tires announced the arrival of a black van with countless band stickers careening around the back corner of the club.Itbraked to a halt, separating me fromSebastian.Thedoors flew open, and the three other members ofZane’sband oozed out.

Zaneshouted at them, “Takeher.Now!”

CHAPTER15

SEBASTIAN

Noway in any realm wouldIlet anyone takeGiannaaway from me.

Ithad been infuriating to see that monstrosity captureGiannain its bony grasp, but when the vampire commanded his goth-wannabe crew to takeGianna,Isnapped.Ihad nothing to lose because without my mate,Ihad nothing.

Shewas mine.

Furyexploded within me with a thunderous boom.Ishook the bloodsucking corpse off me and hurled him at the unyielding black brick wall.Thevampire crashed against it with a thud and slumped to the asphalt as boneless as jelly.Mynostrils flared as the scent of his blood reached me.Hemight be wounded but that wouldn’t stop the blood bag for long.Beingthe undead, he was unfortunately immortal.Iwouldn’t have long before he recovered.
