Whenshe returned, she wore a pair of white silky pajamas, the top sleeveless with spaghetti straps that revealed her bare shoulders.Herlustrous dark hair contrasted with the light top.

Alow growl rumbled deep within my chest. “Oh, you knowIlove those pajamas.”

“Yousay that about most of them—even the winter flannel ones.”Sheflashed a knowing smile.

“WhatcanIsay?”Isaid asIhanded her a mug. “Ifind you sexy as hell.”

“Good.”Shetook the cup and smiled. “I’drather that than you thinking of me as an old hag.”Shewinced, scrunching her features. “Oof, bad choice of words.”

WhenGiannahad aged so rapidly, she’d feared she was going to die of premature old age, and she’d come to see me in the mountains. She’dbeen afraid to reveal how she looked but wanted to say goodbye—just in case.AfterI’dkissed her and given her an enchanted family ring, the aging had reversed.Westill weren’t sure what had broken the curse or if it had simply worn off.

Ipulled her into my arms and gazed into her eyes, a fascinating blue-violet hue unlike anyI’dever seen. “You’vealways been and will always be beautiful to me.”

Hereyes brightened with an appreciative glimmer. “Oh,Sebastian.”

Wethen sat on the blue velvet sofa in the living room to chat about our day while we drank the nighttime tea.

“Oh,Ialmost forgot,” she said. “Igot free tickets to a show inHamptonBeachonWednesday.”Sheshrugged. “Someband in the area for a couple of weeks.Ichecked their stuff online.Prettygood.Soundslike alt rock.Wantto go?”

“Can’t.”Iexhaled. “Wehave a big party coming in that night.Ireally should be there.”

Shenodded with understanding. “Anothertime.”

“Trustme,I’dlove to go to another concert with you soon.Wehad fun at theCure.”

Withour demanding jobs and both of us working evenings, especially weekends, it could sometimes be tough to arrange things like that.Butwe made sure to have at least one date night a month that was more than just going out to eat.Wetried to do something fun.Lifewas not meant to be all work and no play.

“Same.Let’snot wait too long for the next one.”

“Absolutely.”Ihated to disappoint her. “Weshould see who else is coming to town.Whydon’t you see ifNovacan go?”

Giannaperked up. “Goodidea.I’malways up for a girls’ night.I’llask her tomorrow.”

Wethen cuddled for a rerun ofScrubs.Whenit ended,Giannastood. “I’mready for bed.”Afterwe headed upstairs,Iwaited in the bedroom while she was in the bathroom.

Sheopened the door. “Sebastian, come here,” she called.

WhenIheaded in, she was holding up the box with the flosser. “It’sa water flosser with attachments for two people.”

“Areyou trying to tell me something?”Iasked with a grin.

“Someonewas raving about it on social media, soIfigured why not?”Sheshrugged. “Ithas multiple tips so we can both use it.Let’stry it.”

Shepulled out the contents of the box and read the instructions.Ifollowed them, trying to put it together.

Sheassessed the device in my hands. “Okay, it looks right.Nowyou put it into your mouth and turn it on.”

Iinserted the flosser into my mouth and turned it on.Aburst of water attacked me, sloshing everywhere.Yankingit out of my mouth,Iyelped as the powerful stream of water shot everywhere, all over the mirror above the sink, the bathroom walls—everywhere!

Giannajumped back asIaccidentally sprayed water across her pajama top. “Whatare you doing?”

Itried to wrestle the miniature fire hose into submission and finally turned it off. “Flossing.”OrsoIthought.

Hersurprised expression shifted into an amused one.Sheburst out laughing. “Idon’t think that’s how it’s supposed to go.Youpractically cleaned the entire bathroom.”

“Andthe two of us,”Iadded in a wry tone.

“IthinkIgot the brunt of it.”Shemotioned to the front of her pajamas. “Yougot me soaking wet!”
