Andwhat a good start to the morning.GiannaandIenjoyed a leisurely breakfast outdoors at our hotel, which was across the street from the ocean.
“Mmm, the food here is delicious,”Imurmured after swallowing a tasty bite of a fried egg on steak.
Shesipped her mimosa and put down the glass, leaving a sheen on her pouty bottom lip. “I’mglad you like it.”
Icouldn’t be happier to be away with my wife.Mymate still loved me and wanted to be with me.Ihadn’t lost her.Mywolf wanted to run to the highest point on the island and howl in jubilation.
“Ilove everything about this trip.”Iglanced at her. “Especiallybeing here with you.”
“Ifeel the same.”Shesmiled. “Abrief moment of paradise before we get back to reality.”
Imurmured in ascent. “Work, bills, responsibilities…”
“Socialgatherings to plan,”Iadded.
“Likewhat?”
“Well,Pandorawants to throw a baby shower forCassandra.Nova,Zoe, andIsaid we’d help.”
“NotLucas?”Mybrows arched.
Shelaughed. “Apparently, he joked about having it at his old club where he danced.”
“Ababy shower at a strip club.”Igrinned asInodded. “Thatsounds likeLucasall right.”
“They’relooking for someone to cover forCassandrawhile she’s out on maternity leave—especially as she’ll be out throughOctober.”
Iblew out a breath.Thatwas when the crowds surged inSalem—and with it, mischief.Thatcould wait.Weweren’t here to worry about the future.Instead,Igazed at my mate as her dark hair stirred from the ocean breeze. “Youlook extra beautiful this morning.”
“Itmust be the morning sun.”Shesmiled and motioned to the sea with the sunlight sparkling on the waves. “Itmakes everything look more magnificent.”
“Fromthis distance, yes,”Iagreed with a chuckle, a reminder of our varied options when it came to bodies of water. “I’mguessing you’re going swimming while we’re here.”
Sheleaned forward and spoke in a softer tone. “Asiren can’t resist the sea.Justas a wolf can’t resist the hunt.”
Agrowl rumbled deep within my chest asIwas tempted not only by the hunt but the sensual call of my mate. “AndIintend to hunt often whileI’mhere.”
Hereyes sparkled with a naughty gleam. “Oh, willIget to be prey?”
Bloodrushed to my groin asIpictured how we’d howled in pleasure throughout the night. “Tonight,”Ipromised.
“Ooh,I’mlooking forward to that.”Herbrows arched. “Again.”Giannaleaned back in her chair. “Butthat will have to wait because we have a full day planned.”Shetook a bite of her eggs, and her lips spread into a secretive smile.
“Wedo?”
“Yes.I’menjoying surprising you with each aspect of this trip.”
“SoamI.”
“WhereasI’lltrust you when it comes to picking the restaurants, you need to trust me when it comes to fun things that we’re going to do.”Hersmall smile spread wider. “AndIpicked some good ones.”
“Suchas?”
“You’llsee after breakfast.”Shelifted her mimosa, raised it toward me, and then took a sip.

Whatan experience it was.Giannahad booked us aJeeptour to explore the island.Ourguide had driven us up to see a magnificent view of the crater inSeteCidades.Aswe marveled at the view of the twin lakes, he entertained us with a legend explaining why one of the lakes was blue and one was green.Whentwo lovers had been separated, they’d cried so much that their tears created lakes—each one reflecting the color of their eyes.IsqueezedGianna’shand, assuring us both that we would never experience that anguish again.I’ddo anything to be with my mate and wouldn’t let anyone keep us apart.
