Nova’s eyes brimmed with curiosity. “That could be fun.”

“Yes.” With my other hand, I traced my fingers over the soft skin of her cheek and over her bottom lip. “I think we can find some new things to try together.” Maybe I could salvage the seduction tonight after all. “I don’t think we should give up on these toys yet.”

Her sweet lips parted. “What do you mean?”

She could be so sweet and innocent and yet so naughty, especially with her expression now in contrast to that sexy outfit. “Have I ever told you how much you turn me on?”

Her expression brightened. “Maybe.”

“Well, you do. I can barely keep my hands off you.”

Her pupils widened.

Raising the cuffs, I said, “We can still have fun with these.”

“Oh?” She tilted her head.

“Why don’t you let me restrain you?”

Her eyes flickered with excitement. “I’m a little intrigued.”

I trailed my fingers over her shoulder and then over the exposed skin peeking out from the push-up bra. “I’ll tie you up and tease you until you’re begging me.”

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “Ooh...”

“Why don’t we try these on you?” I crawled over to her.

Her naughty smile answered before she did. “A much better plan.”

I fastened one of her arms to the bedpost. “Let’s see how bad you really are.”

The next night, I went with Lucas to a jewelry store.

“Ooh, look at that one. It’s so sparkly.” Lucas pointed into a glass display case.

I glanced into the display where he pointed at a diamond tennis bracelet. “That doesn’t look like an engagement ring.”

“Right, right.” He straightened and moved down the glass cases. “They’re all so dazzling.” Lucas’s eyes shone as bright as the jewels. “It’s like we’re inBreakfast at Tiffany’s.”

“What? Stop being a dork.” Bringing him here might have been a mistake. He’d been as excited as a puppy with a new chew toy since we’d stepped inside.

He remained quiet for about fifteen seconds, during which time I had some peace as I browsed, listening to the classical romantic music playing in the backdrop.

“That one!” Lucas pointed into another display.

The ostentatious ring with countless diamonds and rubies that probably cost a lifetime of school loans. “That’s definitely not Nova’s style.”

Lucas brought his fingertips together. “Yes, you’re right. She’s more down to earth.”

“Meaning nothing too flashy.”

Lucas lasted almost a full minute before he pointed out another rock monster. “Oh, this one is spectacular.”

I sighed, suppressing an eye roll. “Nova would think it’s gaudy.”

“Gaudy? It’s magnificent.” Lucas threw his arms wide. He stared at me with astonishment. “She’s going to want some sparkle on her finger.”
