“Take me home with you.” I grabbed his bicep. “Now.”

Chapter 4

Sebastian

Iblinked at Gianna. No way had I just heard what I thought I did. “Now?” I echoed. “It’s not even midnight.”

“I don’t care.” She wrapped one arm around herself. “I want to get out of here.”

Whoever that woman was talking to Gianna had upset her. With their resemblance, I guessed they were related.

“What happened?” I asked her.

She closed her eyes and then reopened them, fixing a hard stare on me. “I don’t want to talk about it right now.”

“Okay.”

She drummed her fingers on her hip. “Do you want to leave with me, or should I find someone else?”

Fuck. No.

Time to get my head out of my ass. “Let’s go.” Putting my hand on her lower back, I steered her toward the exit. “Do you have a coat?” I’d left mine in the car, but then again, the cold didn’t bother me much.

“It’s in my office,” she replied. “Be right back.”

When she walked away, I texted Lucas and Diego.I’m leaving with Gianna. Find another way home.

I’d driven us all. Since we were all supernatural, alcohol didn’t affect us like it did humans, and I already felt stone-cold sober. Then again, if I hadn’t, Gianna’s invitation would have woken any man up from the grave.

You dog,Lucas texted.Don’t worry, I’m not planning on coming home tonight.

Diego wrote,Don’t mess this up.

What he meant could refer to many things, but most likely had to do with Gianna being Nova’s best friend. If I was a dick, it would have collateral damage on his relationship.

The music faded out and the DJ spoke about the countdown coming up. Funny, this had been my original plan to get in Gianna’s orbit before the countdown and now she was nowhere in sight. Hopefully, she hadn’t changed her mind.

The DJ started the countdown, and everyone joined in. “10… 9… 8…”

I paced near the entrance. Where was Gianna?

“7… 6… 5…”

She’s going to bail on me, isn’t she?

“4… 3…”

I would stand here by myself at the start of a new year. Alone. My gut sank.

“2… 1…”

“Happy New Year!”

“Happy New Year, Sebastian.”

I turned at the sound of the woman’s voice behind me while most of the people nearby embraced. “Gianna.”

She had her coat on and a bright smile. She stepped closer and put her hand on my cheek. As she leaned closer, the noise of the club faded, and my heartbeat drummed louder, echoing in my head. Time slowed as her scent filled my nostrils, imbuing me with a heady burst of need.
