He kissed me hard and fucked me like it was his life’s mission to send his cum in to knock me up. He was feral, obsessed now.

“As if I’d need another reason to want to have your baby,” I admitted. My experience with him would be vastly different from when I was pregnant with Oscar.

“I’m going to fill you until you’re dripping,” he promised in a gritty growl. “I’m going to fuck you until you’re so sore but begging for more.”

I grabbed his ass, urging him to go faster yet. All it took was for him to lower his face to mine and kiss me hard, sucking on my lip and moaning. I came with him, my heart racing, my pussyaching, and my nipples so hard and sensitive that I could hardly stand it.

I cried out as he lifted his head to groan. Under my hands, though, he stayed with me as I held him close, sealing his dick deep inside me as I trembled down to my toes. The brutal hit of the orgasm shocked me, making every cell zing with pleasure. And he wasn’t any better off, breathing hard and resting his head next to mine. Hot whips of his exhales teased my skin, but it was the feel of his cheek rising as he smiled that charmed me the most.

“I love you,” I told him as I caressed his back.

He rolled his head just enough to face me. “I love you, too.”

This was the closest I’d ever come to peace, and I would never take it for granted.

SAUL

In the morning, I smiled as I found my father in the dining room, settling in for breakfast.

“You’re up early,” I commented as I grabbed a plate and sat next to him.

“And you’re too happy to be up this early,” he mused grumpily. The smile he tacked onto the end softened his complaint.

“I remember when you would always make me breakfast no matter how tired you were.”

He nodded. “Because your mother didn’t have a maternal bone in her body.”

I tilted my head from side to side in agreement.

“It was our thing,” I said.

“And now,” he said with a wider smile as he focused on eating, “it’s your thing withyourson.” He met my gaze happily.

“It is.” It might have seemed like a trivial habit to share, but I was glad that Oscar and I bonded as well as we had. Some could argue that it wouldn’t have been a challenge to please the kid. He’d never had a dad, so having anyone step into that role wouldbe a bonus. But I knew that he truly valued his time with me. I could tell because I treasured it just as much.

“I saw you two the other day,” he said. “It took me back to that first time that I burned a damn egg and the cooks were annoyed.”

I laughed, recalling it as well.

“Do you know why I started always making breakfast for you? Or with you?” he asked.

Realizing he was really with it and lucid today, I smiled. It seemed like a good sign of luck, and since today was the day my brothers and I would end the Romanos, I’d take all the good luck possible.

“No. I don’t know. I figured you were just hungry and I was there.”

“I was waiting up to catch your mother coming in after being with another man,” he said, deadpan and dull.

“Oh.” I winced.

“But yes, I was hungry too.”

I rolled my eyes.

“I spent so long watching her, doubting her, spying on her. And even after I had my proof that she couldn’t be satisfied with just me, I couldn’t let go. I wanted love, Saul.”

I frowned, hating that he’d never really had it.
