“Yes, Sir. I mentioned surveillance filming Esteban’s place. All but one face was covered. I sent that image to our people. They find nothing right away, but one of them searched for others on net by hunting similar face in underworld.”
W had pulled Gregori from the same Russian gutters when W escaped. He took pride in hiring the best intel people even though Gregori paid the techs, protecting W’s identity. “I take it you received hit.”
“Yes, Sir, one man from black ops team. One you want alive.”
That was more like it. “Who is he?”
“Only intel I have at this point is name Samuel Leclair, but that is based on our initial search for him. Does not mean it is valid ID.”
“Where is he?”
“We have no location yet. Was no trail to follow when we found where electronics expert had matched Leclair’s photo to picture taken inside building with little light. I challenged our intelligence researchers. First one who locates this Leclair before midnight Thursday eastern time will receive ten thousand bonus.”
Gregori had been groomed to understand how to use money to produce results quickly. That gave the team two days. W rewarded his man with, “Well done.”
“Thank you, Sir. I also have identity of woman.”
W stood, truly impressed. “Who is she?”
“Hallene Clarke, Kovac’s stepdaughter. I have not determined how she discovered mansion. Impressive intel for this woman. Possibly Kovac had hand in this. She was clearly there to rescue Phoebe Kovac.”
Few things stunned W, but that shocked him. Was Kovac trying to double-cross him? Did that fool think if he found Phoebe and brought her home either of them would be safe?
“How do you wish for me to move forward with this information, Sir?”
“Stay on track. I want her alive as well as Leclair.”
Leclair and that woman would regret not dying in South America. Then Kovac would find out just what a mistake it was to cross the wrong man.

Sam hustled up thedriveway to his aunt’s inn where the gaslight atop a metal post near the porch showed him the way.
Too bad it couldn’t show him the way to climb out of this mess. Did he want to capture W and rescue the senator? Of course. He’d also like to know who was behind Esteban’s killing.
