“Are you mocking me?” She frowned at him. “All I am suggesting is that it is a possibility. Indeed, I could be completely wrong about all of it and will be of no use to anyone ever. As for my name, it is just coincidence. This village is full of my relatives who all go by the name of Angel.”

“No, there’s only one angel for me and that is you. I think I knew it the moment you slammed the door in my face when I first arrived.”

“That is ridicu—”

“Hush, Cara. Even my grandmother sees that you are meant for me.”

“But—”

He drew her up against him. “Close that pretty mouth of yours.”

“Why?”

“Do you never stop arguing?” He hauled her into his arms and kissed her.

Chapter Five

Rowan had wantedto kiss Cara from the moment he set eyes on her but never planned to act upon that urge…until now. She was his angel.

She’d said it herself.

She was his Moonstone angel.

He was not going to let her go.

His lips captured her soft, giving mouth with passionate abandon, and he swallowed her up in his arms. She felt so right against him, her every curve fitting to him like the missing piece of a puzzle. The press of her lush breasts against his chest was utter perfection, as though she had been made just for him.

She even tasted sweet despite her acerbic tongue.

He wanted her, wanted to take her upon the warm sand and caress her in the same way the waves caressed the shore. He wanted to move inside her to the ebb and flow of the tide, pour himself inside her and make her his own.

He wanted to devour her, but also wanted something more.

He wanted Cara to love him.

He needed her love.

Needed her.

Lord help him, was it possible he had fallen in love with her?

He deepened the kiss and felt her respond with equal ardor because it was the only way she knew how to be, honest and willing to fully open her heart to him. He could have seduced her at this moment; he knew by the way she was clinging to him that she would not resist if he took the kiss further.

He was so tempted, for he wanted to watch her lovely face as she responded to the touch of his hands and the press of his mouth.

But he could not take her in this way.

He would never insult her by treating her as merely another conquest.

She wasn’t that for him.

She was…

“Oh, dear heaven. What have you done to me?” She broke away and ran down the beach in tears.

“Cara!” Why could she not respond like every other woman he’d kissed? But no, she was going to turn him upside down. He caught up to her and grabbed her around the waist, trying to be gentle even as she fought to break away. “I am not going to hurt you.”

“You already have,” she said and kicked him.
