“You know what will happen if we do this, don’t you, my lord?” The words fell from her lips in a hushed whisper.

His face remained impassive, cool and steady. “I’m well aware.”

“And are you quite certain? If we?—”

Asher’s hand cupped the back of her neck, drawing her face close to his own. His gaze dipped to her mouth, then back to her eyes. “Lady Novalise Starstorm, I understand that taking you fully, completely, will secure the bond between us. Just as I know that once we do this, I will have accepted it…and you.”

His hand slid from around her neck, coming to rest on top of her heart. There, he traced the constellation marking her skin. “But I am prone to rage and silent suffering. My fate is one of unpredictable violence, and I would rather die than see you on the other end of my aggressions. I cannot…cannot love you in the way you deserve. I am not an ideal mate. But for you, I will try.”

It would be enough. She had an eternity to make him fall in love with her.

“I accept you, Lord Asher Firebane Emberspire.”

An emotion she didn’t recognize flashed in his eyes, then he blinked and it was gone. “I accept you, Lady Novalise Starstorm Celestine.”

With that, she lowered herself onto his thick shaft, inch by delicious inch. He groaned, taking hold of her hips, until she was fully seated on top of him. He filled her, stretched her, eased that agonizing ache of longing only he could satisfy.

“Very well, my lord.” She rocked once and his fingers dug into her, certain to leave bruises. “Make me see stars.”

Asher guided her up and down, slowly at first, helping her find the perfect rhythm. Each time she sank onto him, he’d jerk upward, forcing himself deeper inside of her. Her nails scoured his chest, clawing at him for purchase while he let her take the lead, increasing their pace as she saw fit. She rode him exactly as he’d demanded while a thousand sensations fired through her, sending her into a spiral of lust.

For once, she was in control. She made the decisions. She was in charge.

But then Asher smiled.

He adjusted, drawing his knees up behind her, forcing her back to arch. Suddenly, he lifted his hips from the rug, thrusting further into her. Over and over, he rocked his hips, never touching the ground, reaching the most intimate part of her core.

Novalise gasped, a rush of euphoria leaving her spellbound. She could do nothing but hold on as he plunged his cock into her, the magnitude of his strength, of his skill, causing a cascading waterfall of stars to rain down above them.

Asher’s grin only widened, and he tucked one hand behind his head, his hot gaze drinking her in as she edged closer to a state of reckless bliss. Again, he surged into her, driving her higher and higher. This time her head fell back on a cry as waves of pleasure tingled across her flesh. He snared a fistful of her hair, gently tugging, holding her in place as he carried her to the devastating crush of release.

“Ash!” She clawed at his chest, the orgasm tightening inside of her, ready to snap.

“Come for me, Starlight.” His voice was strained, breathless. “Be a good girl.”

Again, she did exactly as she was told.

Novalise came undone as a flurry of silver stars. Midnight flames erupted around them, the bond between them flaring to life.

“You’re so damn perfect.” Asher groaned, emptying himself inside her, their joining tying the two of them together for an eternity. Magic exploded like a symphony, a crescendo of starfire and frostfire cocooning them in a state of euphoric bliss.

She collapsed on top of him, tiny, twinkling stars dancing across her vision.

He rolled her over so her back was to the hearth, curling her into him, tucking the top of her head under his chin. She could think of nothing more pleasant than the way she fit perfectly against him.

Novalise nuzzled her face into his neck, their hearts beating in time with one another. Their emotions—elation, contentment, arousal—were entirely in sync. A melody of stars and the harmony of fire.

She sighed. “It’s late.”

“Mm.” His arms only tightened around her, his fingers drawing idle circles along her spine.

“My family might be worried.” She shivered, enjoying the way his cock, still nestled between her thighs, twitched to life again.

“Ariesian knows you’re here. He also knows it’s too dangerous to take a carriage in such a storm.”

Novalise didn’t mention that the storm had already passed. “You want me to stay?”

“Correction,” he muttered, his voice thick with drowsiness. “I’m not allowing you to leave.”
