A lump clogged my throat, making it hard to speak above a whisper. “We’re the same sides of a fucked-up coin.”

Fane’s knees sank into the cushions, and he grabbed my leg, parting my thighs. “We were two lonely creatures just trying to exist in a cruel world. And now we have each other. No more loneliness as long as we’re together. It doesn’t matter who else has to share that.”

With his gaze locked on mine, he sank deep into me, and we moaned at the searing fire exploding around us, beneath us, inside of us.

Our bodies clashed together, Fane bruising and marking me. He licked a blazing trail across my flesh, and I screamed his name, pleading for more as he claimed me again and again.

Stars popped in my vision as the desire roared through us and release after release hit me while Fane took me rough at first and then slow and then rough again. The dark fae wouldundoubtedly feel the intense sexual energy flowing from the balcony, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find them hovering near it.

We were slick with sweat and arousal as Fane flipped me on my belly, spread my legs, and took me again. I could barely hold myself up when he jerked me onto my hands and knees and fisted my long hair before slamming his hard length into me.

I cried out, begging for him to go harder, faster. Tears streaked my cheeks, and I sobbed as the pleasure overwhelmed me. I never wanted it to stop.

Please don’t stop.

But we eventually had to stop before we screwed each other into oblivion, so we finally collapsed on the now-broken couch.

I lay on Fane’s chest, running my finger over the healing scratches, his feet hanging off the tattered end of the couch where the arm used to be. “Do you think everyone in the club knew what we were doing?”

His hoarse laughter shook my body. “There’s a good chance most of the nightworlders sensed something hot going on up here.”

I buried my face against him. “At least you didn’t rip my clothes, so I have something to wear.”

“What a shame.” Fane caressed the length of my spine. “There’s still time for you to dress and let me tear them off.”

“No way.” I kissed the tattoo over his heart. “How about I shred your clothes this time and you walk out naked?”

He shrugged. “Go for it, fiera mika.”

I lifted my head, gazing down at him. “I’ll do it, Fane.”

His smile made me feel boneless. “You can do anything you want.”

“I’m calling your bluff and?—”

The hair on my arms suddenly stood on end as my scalp prickled. Fane felt the change, too, his muscles tightening and eyes glowing.

“Something’s going on down there,” he murmured, cocking his head to listen. “We should get dressed.”

My heart thundered against my ribs as a foreboding sensation flooded the club. Tension built, and something sinister grazed my nape.

And then the screaming began.

Chapter

Twenty-Six

Shrieks and shoutsof terror erupted through Wrath & Ruin, shooting arctic water through my veins and dousing the haze of lust in the private VIP room. We bolted off the broken couch, and I grabbed Fane’s t-shirt to shield my body before darting to the balcony.

Instead of bothering to cover up, the demon shifter just stood there, stark naked. No one paid him any attention, though.

They were all attacking, being attacked, or trying to run.

My heart shot into my throat at the chaos unfolding across the club. Demons—an eerie, almost robotic jerk to their movements—assaulted humans and other nightworlders. Snarls and screams pierced the thudding music, and the dancing lights bounced over the scales, sharp teeth, and unnatural shades of flesh of the demons as their glamours vanished.

Vampires and shifters attempted to fight back while the few fae and witches hurled magic. The metallic tinge of blood perfumed the air.

“What the hell is going on?” I screeched.
